Hi honey, I'm home!

I actually got home at a fairly decent time today. In fact, I only worked for 3 1/2 hours. I didn't plan it that way, but my manicure/pedicure took longer than expected. I didn't get much done though.

I spent awhile this afternoon with my latest client and his wife. The case is actually based in another county. I felt really bad for this guy. He has joint custody of his kid and has found himself at the mercy of a corrupt "good ol' boy" network (or more specifically, a corrupt "NOW" network, Arkansas style). The mom is doing everything wrong...using the kid as an emotional chew toy, not feeding him properly, not sending him to school much of the time, making up illnesses (it appears) and putting him through unnecessary medical tests, lives like a pig, has ruined her grown daughter's credit, can't even get utilities in her own name, but she has a better paying job than the dad. Even threatened the dad with a gun in front of the kid, but it seems the judge on the case is a man-hating feminazi type that likes throwing her power around (think Hillary "It's for the Children" Clinton in a black robe). *SHUDDER*

This judge has a rep. I was discussing the case with a doctor that had knowledge of her. He told me he'd like to tell her to take her know-it-all attitude and stick up her ***. Looks like they're all covering for this mom because of some family connections. The dad isn't even trying to get custody (although he probably should), but just trying to do the right thing, and this judge is threatening him with contempt for not complying with orders (which were never made), even though it was to do something which he actually did anyway. The dad and his wife are decent, hard-working, well-respected people in the community (obviously not our typical type client) that are trying to be involved and are getting slapped at every turn. This is one of those situations where it will be a pleasure to throw a monkey wrench in the works. See; there really ARE a few perks to this job.
