Aha!... but we are missing one important fact.
We - We are many here, and a lot more out there - can still do something about it.
If the Reps screw us, we can do the same thing to them! we could exercise our own nuclear option! on them. I could even vote for the opposition. I could!... and since they act like losers anyway, maybe we should give it to them.
And if they lose, which they probably will if a lot of us dissent, the party will go into turmoil and deep re-examination as to why they lost and maybe out of all this, a newer, truer conservative party will emerge. Because there is no question the country is getting more conservative as the baby boomers age.
What do you think? good? :)

No one ever said you have to be a Republican to hang out here.. did they? I've never claimed to be a Republican at all. I consider myself a libertarian leaning, conservative independant. But I love this site regardless.
Nope, I was a Capital L Libertairan when I joined FR. Now I'm a small l libertarian, well on my way to being a man without a party...

I expected a bunch of "Don't let the door hit ya where the Good L-rd split ya" but instead I'm recieving a lot of agreement.Oh yeah...We're still voting that way, but they're cut off from our piggybank, and whenever the email comes to me, they get the same little rejection boilerplate back - I tried to look it up real quick but they've stopped asking, so it's not in my last month of sentmail.
I'm not sure where I'd go if I left the Republicans - I voted Libertarian for years without becoming active in the party. When I did become active & started attending local meetings, I realized that all the Libs in my area really care about is the drugs, so that's over. I was thinking Constitution, but I wasn't real impressed with their stance on the war.
If I don't have anywhere to go, I might well stay home.

They say what it takes to get elected then go not follow thru. That is one of the reasons we are discusted with them.

The Conservative Party has a nice ring to it, don't you think?
SURE DOES!
Is there any rule that says a given politician can't belong to more than one party?
Maybe a partial solution is a "crossover party" - one that supports a given candidate on Conservative principles, whether that candidate is Republican, Democrat, Libertarian, or something else. Sure, most candidates that a Conservative Party would support are probably going to also be Republican, but that isn't necessarily a bad thing. However, a Conservative party could be like an ultimate PAC - the NRA and the AARP wield a lot of influence on their issues, why not a similar entity devoted to broad Conservative issues? In some cases, a Conservative party might be able to field candidates, but in the mean time, it could have a huge effect on the dynamics of the parties.
Heck, if it was so successful that it swung the Republican party back to Conservatism and made a Conservative party irrelevant, would that be a bad thing?
There's no reason that we, as conservatives, couldn't support a Conservative party/PAC and still support certain Republican candidates. If the RNC gets starved for cash, then our influence would only grow.

I am a conservative without a home.No you're not. Freepland will always be home~sweet~home.
But seriously, don't scare me like that. I thought you were leaving FR. I was gonna have to call all my ping lists to stop you. Duct tape you to your computer or something.

I just mailed back my "Gold RNC Membership Card." Told them, as I have for several mailings now, get some judges confirmed and get back to me.I thought of writing them about my disgust (judges/immigrants) and I don't even open those letters anymore....just throw them out. But, I like your idea...I'll send it back with a letter and tell them to get back to me when they shape up.

This just in: Karl Rove and Ken Mehlman are totally depressed and they were taken to the hospital for emergency care because Lazamataz is leaving the Republican Party. I think President Bush will interfere to convince Lazamataz to stay because without Lazamataz strategic views the Republican Party will be dead.
End of extreme sarcasm.
