This reminds me --that just a couple weeks ago Rush Limbaugh went off on them too....calling everyone a bunch of wimps. He said he is going to move to Tahiti and the hell with it all...he's also sincerely disgusted. Maybe we should all go to Tahiti.

If Rush agrees with me, I'm in good company.

Understand completely! Just had my first call from the Republican National Committee since Terri died. Had been waiting for that call and did I let loose! Not a penny from us until the Republicans stand up and support life, all life! Gave it to him so hard I hated to let loose about Judges, just asked him to call back at another time! Won't be called any name now other than Christian and if they want my vote, they will come across with Christian ideals.

Wow. Is 1 minute 47 seconds before recanting an opus a record? :) I realise this was not an official FR opus, but just the same.

Be patient. It just looks like we need a couple of more election cycles to actually have Conservatives in control.

I too am disappointed, but maybe our enthusiasm was premature?

God made the Israelites wander in the desert for 40 years after bringing them out of Egypt because the older generation needed to die out before there could be entry into the promised land (hat tip MarkL).

Is it that hard for us to wait an election cycle or two ourselves?

>Problem is, even with our majority, I'm seeing precious little by way of wins

I remind myself
daily the Republican
Party
IS NOT just

the suits in DC,
it's the milllions of people
in the red counties.

Do not abandon
the people because some suits
abandoned them first . . .

I'm pretty much getting sick of holding my nose to vote for these panty-waists and then getting bent over for it. I'm about to check out myself.

I cannot go Constitution Party, they are too John-Birch whacky for my tastes. Maybe we really do need a Conservative Party.

I'm with you. I've derived a few simple rules: 1) Never vote for any Democrat for any office. Ever. 2) Vote for Republicans when they seem to be persons of character who uphold conservative or libertarian principles. 3) Vote for honorable third party candidates when the Republican is a RINO or otherwise not viable. 4) If there are no honorable candidates, do not cast a ballot. 5) Give no money to national or state parties, for any reason.

You are making a case for ballots with..."None of the Above" on them

But by voting them into office--giving them control of the purse strings--isn't that exactly what you're doing?

Both of the real parties are just shaking in their boots because you've taken so many seats.

After all the damage done to our country by Republicans and 'Rats, there's not much to crow about.

A new wave will wash these dinosaurs away, sooner or later, one way or another. You really think the trend of the last few decades can continue forever?

Listen friend, you have taken the Demorats bait. Getting repubs to bolt the party is the essence of their stalling plan. Don't fall for this sneaking trick of the RATS. Kennedy, Pelosi, Hillary Rotten, and the rest of that bunch of socialists realize if they can stall long enough Republican supporters will lose heart and fall away from the party. This approach is a proven winner for them now and has been in the past. I repeat, DON'T TAKE THE BAIT.

No party is 100% capable of pleasing everyone. Neither is the Libertarian Party--they don't support the military--think about the shape we would be in if we didn't have a strong military. We are 6% of world population and 50% want what we have without having to follow the rules to succeed.

"But I won't bother to vote at all if there's no difference in the parties."

Works for me. Since I vote Republican, and my DH votes whichever way the wind is blowing on Election Days, your NOT voting will make MY Republican vote twice as strong. (Well, maybe not in voter fraud-riddled Wisconsin, but you catch my drift.)

While I largely agree with your Opus, and am frustrated as h#ll myself, I can live with your decision to leave the party, or to stop voting.

Here's a thoughtful Opus on the reasons for not voting:

Didn't say I was recanting.

Is that a recant of a recant?

Rush went off a couple of weeks ago, but yesterday said we're winning. I think he's got almost as many personalities as Carrie.

The Republican Party is the France of politics

An apt description!! We don't know how to be the "majority party" apparently.

I have to remain a loyal Republican because there isn't an alternative but I understand your comments.

The Republican Party is the France of politics.

I just used this perfect line in my latest letter to my Senator Wobbly Gordon Smith. Moveon.org is advertising heavily here in Eastern Oregon on this matter. Rather shocking as the population is mostly on the other side of the state. Generally, nobody spends money here.
