This is so cool, Amy! Thank you.

You are a brave lady to risk attack by an angry momma bird to get pictures of her babies to share with us. Did you say the young leave the nest as soon as they are born? Seems to me building a nest on the ground isn't real bright, LOL, but I am sure there is some good reason for it.

I will check the nest a little later.

Mr. JA says the parents were not there screaming at him when he went out a little earlier.

I'm not sure about kildeer but baby quail leave the nest almost immediately. If the other two eggs hatched last night or early this morning, they may have taken off.

I did not get next to the babies; Mom was too upset. When I stood over the nest to take pictures of the eggs, she just acted injured and screeched a lot.

Well, if they have trouble learning to fly, they are already on the ground : )
