This is the Princes Trust website. It shows how much he does for the country. He is not all bad. His main downfall is his lack of tact and his general fuddy-duddiness.

[insert long string of annoyingly irrelevant lesser titles]

His Royal Highness Prince Charles Philip Arthur George, Prince of Wales, KG, KT, GCB, OM, AK, QSO, PC, ADC, Earl of Chester, Duke of Cornwall, Duke of Rothesay, Earl of Carrick, Baron of Renfrew, Lord of the Isles and Prince and Great Steward of Scotland.

KG - Knight of the Garter
KT - Knight of the Thistle (Scottish)
GCB - Knight Grand Cross of the Order of the Bath
OM - Order of Merit (most exclusiive order)
AK - Knight of the Order of Australia
QSO - Companion of the Queen's Service
PC - Privy Counsellor
ADC - Aide de Camp of the Queen

From Rothesay on down are Scottish titles.

Her full title is Elizabeth II, by the Grace of God, of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland and of Her other Realms and Territories ....

I miss the old style "____ by the Grace of God, Queen of Great Britain, Ireland, Berwick-upon-Tweed, and the British Dominions beyond the sea ...."

Well our lot is better than the Kennedy's who are equally inbred pompasses

Not true! The Kennedys are MORE inbred and GREATER pompasses! But: Kennedys are not sovereigns, they generally support themselves, and they are not titular heads of anything, especially not a church.

What will the Episcopal Church do when the King has a divorced woman for a wife? I think the southern hemisphere members of the Communion might bolt, eh?

Regards.

Thank you for your rather detailed response. I personally have nothing but the greatest respect and admiration for the people of the UK. I am a 3d generation American, my paternal grandmother emigrated to the US from England in 1902. I guess that makes me only a second generation born American. For that I am deeply grateful.

Nonetheless, I am an Anglophile. Much of what makes America a great country comes from our years associated from England. I am an attorney by trade and understand how much we in the "colonies" owe to the common law.

I greatly appreciate your long response to answer my rather mundane question. I find your answer fascinating. It appears to me that you in the UK are much less cynical than we are in the States about our "leaders". In the US, we value our scepticism concerning our "betters".

Personally, I have nothing but empathy for the Prince. I believe that he has received unfair attention concerning his relation with Diana and Camilla. If he is now happy, I am more than exstatic.

It is hard to believe that our worst enemy some 200+ years ago, now remains our best ally. I have a deep wish to some day visit England. Our countries are so much alike, yet so disparate, that any insult to you seems a personal insult. God save the Queen.

Just keep in mind that the family was Saxe-Coburg-Gotha until George V changed it in 1917 to kind of 'keep a distance' from the rest of the Europeans.
