Nac,

The point of the post is that the only way to save Terri is via a bipartisan Mercy Coalition and assessing blame now is not doing anything to help Terri. We're wasting time, time that should be directed at contacting Dem politicians and appealing their to their sense of morality and conscience.

Clinton stormed little Elian because the press gave him a free ride. But let's give you your way. Bush storms the hospice and takes her into some form of protective custody. The media blows it into a constitutional crisis, and says Bush is running a police state. We lose the majority, and all the things, I presume, you would want a Pub congress to enact- pro-life, less active judiciary, etc--- So, the end result is we save Terri, but continue again down the road of activist judges and the death culture for generations to come.
You come to the decision your conscience dictates, but look to the future, and see what your actions foretell.
Please know, I respect your view.
Never give up! Never give up! Never! Never! Never! Churchill

Thanks for a reasoned reply. I have thought about it and waited until now to reply.-

The point of the post is that the only way to save Terri is via a bipartisan Mercy Coalition and assessing blame now is not doing anything to help Terri.

I believe that there is no bipartisanism in our government. They have shown over GWB's term's in office that they do not care about right and wrong and have a different mentality than we do. Their conscience is clear about any action they take to remove the president from office. That is why it is futile to bargain with them. It is futile to argue about Roe vs. Wade, futile to argue about gun control, futile to argue about taxes, nationalized medicine, and "bioethics" (euthanasia). They will never compromise and constantly scheme in nefarious ways to have their way.

Clinton stormed little Elian because the press gave him a free ride. But let's give you your way. Bush storms the hospice and takes her into some form of protective custody. The media blows it into a constitutional crisis, and says Bush is running a police state. We lose the majority...

The press constantly gave Clinton free rides on everything. He was their ideological leader. They constantly attack Bush on everything he is their ideological and religious enemy. Bush will be attacked on any action he takes. To the left, he is the Devil. They will not negotiate with him in good faith.

What use is having the power of the greatest office in the land if one does not use that power? Every conservative commentator has scratched their heads trying to understand why the Bush administration cowtows to the very people they defeated in the election. I have wondered the very same thing. So far, the Republicans have not used their power to put in any judges at all. The Democrats have filibustered. The Repubicans have not used their majority to legally change the house rules to put the judges they want in. I have to assume that even if they carry the majority again, the results of the election will be the same. Inaction, no judicial appointments of their liking, and a pacifism of the left. We have a track record now of one complete 4 year term to go on. Why should it be any different?

Do I advocate a military attack on the hospice? Sitting comfortably in my chair, I would like very much to see armed paratroopers lay seige to the hospice, give the parents their daughter and throw the "police" in the hospice in a military prison for a while until their lawyers and a lot of their own money have been spent.

If I was sitting in GWB's chair? I don't know.

It could also be that taking real tangible action would present a "sea change" and force the Republicans to forcefully move forward with governing the country for whatever time is given to them. You like to quote Churchill. Here is another one for you:

One ought never to turn one's back on a threatened danger and try to run away from it. If you do that, you will double the danger. But if you meet it promptly and without flinching, you will reduce the danger by half.
