I understand your perspective completely, but understanding does not imply agreement. And you needn't remind me of the power of prayer. I was a homeless junkie and chronic alcoholic a little more than four years ago (and an atheist, too), at the point of death, and threw myself on my knees and begged for help: Let me die or make me well. Help came, and I'm doing well now, thanks. God completely removed the mental obsession and physical craving of drug addiction and alcoholism from me, perhaps not 'born again' in the Baptist sense of the word, but certainly reborn. So yeah, I understand. I also remember Paul's example: he was out there in the world, taking on all comers, defeating them with truth by words and living example. That is, after all, what spiritual armor is for.
I am beginning to see our perspective also, and I desire that there be no animosity between us. We are plaing on the same sheet of music; we're just playing different instruments. Paul taught that we all are given spiritual gifts, but not all are given the same gift.
BTW, I'm not a Baptist. There really isn't a denominational name that fits me, but I refer to myself as a biblicist, for I derive my doctrinal positions and theology from biblical exegesis, not traditions, and I serve in nondenominational, fundamentalist church.
I have been told I write funny. When people meet me, they see that I also talk funny.
Cling to Paul's teachings. He was raised up by God as the Apostle to the Gentiles and his message is directed at us in particular.
Maranatha!
