We did as much as we could"""

Not so. This case is about public opinion. Public opinion has been manipulated by a lying media. W. Bush could have made a speech telling the truth about Terri's condition and what is being done to her to kill her, and the scoundrel Michael. Instead Bush throws off a pathetic line about "erring on side of life" -- an apologetic suggestion that helping Terri is an "error" -- and then he goes and hides in a rabbit hole. That's not leadership. That's not using presidential bully pulpit. That's not EDUCATING the American people about a life-or-death issue - euthanasia and the death merchants - that transcends the Terri Schiavo case. Bush is a poll-driven politicians. Can you name me ONE position he has ever taken that was at odds with the polls? I honestly don't know of one. Unlike Reagan, who followed his instincts, polls be damned. I miss Reagan. God how I miss Reagan.

Excellent point. If you are up against a media that insists on a constitutional right to die, you need to use the bully pulpit to lead, shape, and guide opinion. This was a nod to pro-life Christians, without any effort to evangelize the dimwit middle, or point out the horrors of Michael Schiavo's record. Watching George Bush argue for life, is something like hearing a diminutive grandmother talking up brussel sprouts at a rave party.

The Lebanese don't miss Reagan. He cut and ran from Lebanon after Syria gave us a bruising and the area's been a bloody pain in the arse for Americans since. Against terrorists, the one thing he did was to bomb Qaddafi, but didn't succeed in killing him, either. It made Qadaffi more timid but as we know and more careful with its associations (Abu Nidal was sent packing back to Iraq ultimately), while Libya continued its quest for nukes with little in its way. Against Iranian and Syrian-backed terrorists, Reagan was ineffective. That's not to say he wasn't a great leader because he was- it's just to point out that he wasn't better than the leaders we have now.

I googled GOP betrayed Terri Schiavo and your thread came up. I couldn't agree with you more. I was there. I was pushed around by the police (the Bushes like to call them homeland security). We were labeled insurgents even though we only had signs. The media didn't tell what was happening at Hospice Woodside but instead were giving the White House's version.

The Bushes' wealthy friends were more important than Terri Schiavo. It was their wish that Terri be starved to death.

That would be Mel Sembler, Ambassador to Italy Bush 41 and Bush 43 (best friend of Judge Greer). The Semblers attended the inauguration. Terri died for some wealthy land developers to protect George Greer their friend.
