The only good thing to come out of this heartbreaking tragedy is that Jeb Bush has eliminated himself from ever being POTUS. The single greatest threat to our Republic is a runaway judiciary. He was stared down and run off by a lowly probate judge. He's done.

If he had cowboyed up, I would have followed him to hell and back.

Yep, I would have followed him too.

I was queasy about the dynastic thing, with all those Bushes, but Jeb stood up and was doing the right thing.
But then he caved completely, and inexplicably.
He keeps saying that he does not have the power, but that is not true. It's even craven. He has the power, he does not want to take the heat.

Neither do the guys who ride into real bullets in real combat, but they do, because they believe in a higher cause. For Jeb to do the right thing involved no physical danger to himself or anyone else. He would save a life, which weighs very heavily in favor of the action. What is the absolute worst that could happen? A lot of folks get very angry and huff and puff and try to impeach him. Perhaps some cops don't obey and you end up with a fight between cops following the orders of their chain of command, and cops obeying the judiciary. That's it.
At the end of the day, the worst possible thing would be that the Florida Legislature would impeach him and remove him from office. In which case he'd still be Jeb Bush, still be a multimillionaire, and have the honor and respect of millions (that's assuming they could actually impeach him: they don't have the votes to really do it).

Instead, he chose to wash his hands of an innocent woman's death, and claim - completely falsely - that he had no power to stop it. Pontius Pilate.
George Bush, with Executive power in the White House, has made the same decision.

Very unfortunate.
Reminds me of their father, caving on taxes. Just as inexplicable too.

And if he coyboyed up, what do you think the courts would do?

Even if he rescued her, how long does it take her case to end up back in the courts? Four days? A week? And as much as we would all love to see Jeb or someone tell the courts where to stick it, does it really save Terri in the long run or just prolong this fiasco of judicial tyranny?

It's a power struggle now, as is evident by the rulings and the behavior of the courts this week. Terri's dad was right, Judge Greer is flexing his muscles and is determined to kill Terri - the hell with the evidence. And the good ole boy network of judges is going to back him all the way as they don't like anyone challenging the authority of the judiciary - evidence is irrelevant to judges who think they are God. So if Jeb challenges their authority by rescuing Terri, how do you think the judiciary in Florida is going to react when her case ends up right back in the courts - and it will? Do you think they will look at new evidence? They're not looking at it now.

I understand your frustration, but the problem is deeper and very ingrained in our society when most Americans believe the judicial system should be the final word - that guarantees a corrupt judiciary.

The courts have to be reigned in by legal channels. Such as, in this case, ONE JUDGE should NEVER be allowed to sentence an innocent disabled woman on heresay evidence. There are laws that can be passed to prevent this fiasco from happening again, and we have to work for and demand laws that reign in the jucidial tyranny of the courts.

But alas, he's just a man, he tried. She's have been dead two years ago if It hadn't been for Jeb.

So no I will not fellow Jeb to hell and back either, but alas he's just a man.

Yup. Put his tail between his legs and ran. I wasn't surprised either.

Still, he never would have stood a chance anyway. His crackhead daughter would have made sure that there would be enough scandal that it would be too costly for him to run. Wake up Republicans, we need to clean house. Either you are honest, brave and true to your ideals or we don't need you to run.
