What did Eisenhower do when Gov. Faubus refused to integrate schools? He forced a constitutional showdown, sent in troops, and prevailed. Why? Because he was on the side of right (and had an overwhelming advantage in firepower). If Gov. Bush were truly sincere in his efforts to do everything he could, he would do the same thing. What he really meant was that he did everything he was willing to do in the context of political viability. Not exactly a "Profile in Courage". If that's good enough for you, O.K. The argument that an individual citizen should be held to the same standard for action as the chief executive of a state, especially a state in which a person does not live, is ludicrous.

How many times did the Xlintons abuse the executive branch power to change the facts "on the ground" with his shredding of documents, steal raw FBI personal files, losing billing records, invoking national security...to cover up betrayals of national security and oathes of office and loyalty, sending in machine-gun toting BATF swat teams to kidnap Elian at gun point from an unarmed grandpa, or accusing some intermediary of bigotry and bumbling...and even occasionally having to go to "unfortunate" funerals....?
No consequences have befallen them. Hillary, ensconced in the Senate, is now enroute to a run for President, and likely victory, in '08. If a peremptory rescue of an innocent life was so violatory of our constitution...what was all that Xlinton did? Why are the Bushes suddenly so circumspect about the Constitution when they apparently feel the Xlinton's are entitled to a pass?
Things are not as they would have it appear.
