What bothers me is that so many people are unfairly blaming Jeb Bush for this, that it may have an impact on whether this good man continues in politics. This sort of public statement only adds to the faulty perception that this is Jeb's fault, and encourages those voters who have abandoned him because of this issue.
The Schindlers are being advised by people on the fringe who have no love for the Bush brothers. I think it's reasonable to assume they've had some influence here.
Very unfortunate, imo.
And by the same token, supporters of the Schindlers are bothered that Jeb has been shown to have the authority by the Thomas Moore Center at Jeb's request here.
Furthermore, DCF was on route to take custody of Terri but were turned around after Greer issued his injunction. That would be Jeb who turned them around.
You may think or feel it's unfair that Jeb is being blamed but the accusation is accurate. By virtue of the state constitution and statute 415.1051 Jeb could have allowed DCF to take custody of Terri under emergency conditions but they were prevented.
It's called leadership and Jeb has failed in that regard. By way of contrast, President Bush has shown remarkable leadership in the War on Terror by acting first and asking forgiveness later. At least that's my take.
