After much conversation yesterday on Terri Schiavo, I was wondering what you thought about what's next.
When their daughter passes away, should Terri Schiavo's parents file a wrongful death civil lawsuit against Michael Schiavo?
You kidding. I'm so much for her that I'm hoping she doesn't have to suffer anymore.
I've been through this twice in the last year with immediate family members. Only the religiously weak think we should keep this lady hooked up to feeding tubes for the next 50 years.
The religiously strong recognize God's hand in every aspect of life...and death.

We don't know for certain what "God's Will" is in this case. For all we know, God called Terri home 15 years ago....or 15 hours from now. We know not the time nor the place. To purport to knowing otherwise is to pretend to know what God will and won't do, which noone can purport to know.
I didn't say I was ok with it, but it's far better than murdering millions of innocent lives since the '60's who would have been paying into social security now. You got a better idea?

Florida is a good place for murderers to own a home. No matter what you owe, your home is yours to keep. There is only one other state with the same law. That's why OJ owns in FL! (But Florida is not a good place to retire to - be very afraid!)
I think it was Judge Neopolitano on FOX who made a important observation. He thinks that one thing that is playing into the fact that each judicial court keeps saying "no" is the schindlers constant appealing to the courts over and over again through the years. Kinda like being a pest or badgering to the judges and they do not like it.
The schindlers may have been their most worst enemy.

I've considered that. The "normal" on the other side to fight so tenaciously for her death isn't exactly normal. It is certainly immoral, and death by starvation of a human being should be illegal if there are any means to prevent it.
No matter what their motives, which only God knows, they did the right thing imo, especially in light of the consequences aka exit protocol their daughter is now undergoing.
Exit protocol. How they love to sanitize words. Call it for what it is. Murder. Euthanasia. Assisted suicide (if it truly was her wish which I don't buy).
It's not that simple. No one wants her to suffer. But the bottom line is we took it out of God's hands and men decided her fate which turns out to be murder by starvation.

But could you not make the same argument that people put on ventilators are taking the death "out of God's hands"

Unfortunately, yes. Technology has forced us into making moral decisions for which there are no historical precedents. We are winging it.
For all these stories of people having their lives extended 5, 10, 20 or more years by modern science, for how many does it go the other way and prolong their agony?
No, that has fluctuated throughout history. What is living artificially anyway? A pope and two young blood donors died trying to save his life. Is that artificial? Jehovah's Witnesses don't believe in blood transfusions. Christian Scientists and some cults don't believe in doctors. It goes on and on. I don't know if there has ever been a true concensus on what Christians do to keep someone alive artificially.
I don't remember ever hearing about Christians fighting over whether people should be in iron lungs or not. That used to be fairly common. Polio victims were kept in iron lungs until they died of some complication, but they weren't starved to death purposely.
Generally, Christian or not, society kept their ill and disabled alive as long as they could within the means at their disposal.
People are generally unaware that the judiciary is like a mafia, until they get swallowed by the beast.
If she's a vegetable, then she's not suffering. If she's suffering, then she's not a vegetable.
You can't have it both ways.
Any person can sue anybody including a judge. Just make sure you have all your facts, a good attorney and know the "loop holes".
Terri's parents should sue Michael if Terri dies. I would be the 1st in line to help.
There will be many who would contribute. But Michael is a minor player being used by more influential ppl. He reminds me of lower level "numbers writers" protected by corrupt city officials. Without higher support he would be very alone and rebuffed. If he is used to get them.. great.. It would be a plus.. but then he would become very expendable in most scenarios.. Most ppl like him never survive into court to be questioned.. All IMHO.
