Up at the top of the Virginia Range, getting ready to drop down onto Lousetown Road. There used to be a mining camp out there, called - you guessed it - Lousetown.
The mountains are all in bloom, flowers everywhere.
Wild horses
We do have trees :)
Site of the old town, Lousetown. Still some signs of civilization - old crepe myrtle trees.
The white to the right of that tree is part of the rib cage and backbone of a wild horse, more bones laying around along with part of the hide, but not enough to tell what happened.
Old building remains
Views of the mountain ranges - Virginia, Flowery and Chalk Mountains.
Petraglyphs
I meant "throw in the basket", not the water through:')
Fascinating petroglyphs! So can you just walk along and see them on the rocks?
And as always, I love knowing there are wild horses and think it's neat that you can catch sight of them. They must be having a good year, with the green desert.
Ok I'm on Macks computer, and I can read the sign, and see the art on the rocks. I couldn't see that on the Web TV. That is great. Thanks for posting the pictures. That's cool seeing the wild horses too.
Becky
You live in an incredible place.
My parents are traveling right now, they are in route to Las Vegas and just went through Flagstaff. They were at an RV park spending the night when my mother called me then immediately hung up before I could answer. I called her back, no answer. She then called me back about 30 minutes later, really shaken up. When she was calling me, my dad started yelling at her to come outside. There was a crowd of people surrounding a pickup truck, the ambulance and police were on the way. What happened was, 2 pickup trucks loaded with kids in the back were horseplaying, throwing water balloons at each other with the trucks moving. A little girl fell out. The ambulance got there and got the girl inside. A few minutes later, the paramedic gets out and gives the crowd a thumbs down. The little girl was dead. She was in the 8th grade.
Duchess, what a wonderful person you are to post such beautiful pictures. Here I am sitting in my study, depressed because we have no water as the well is still not working and the man hasnt turned up. BUT looking at your pictures, it feels like I have taken a mini vacation!
Thankyou! : D
