The vet said the infection she had is caused when a mare doesn't expell the afterbirth very fast and it hangs out of her and she gets up and down several times. It gets dirty and that gets inside her...

This is why my vet advised me to give Truly a shot of Occytocin right after birth. It cleans them out.
