good idea, i wish deaconjim was here tongiht but Friday is his next night off. I dont hink we'll have problems tonight cause all 3 pit bulls are chained up today. Deaconjim saw them as he took Emma to school.
I will be nervous about letting the kids play outside by themselves from now on, and that really isnt fair. I know that I will have my gun nearby and will not hesitate to use it if he shows up again.
I'd just stress to the kids every time they go out, that if ANY dog shows up come in the house, do not touch it, do not run, and do not start yelling, just come in the house.

The thing about chicken killers is that I have never been able to train them to stop. You can even beat them with a dead chicken and it won't do any good. I love dogs and I hate saying this but you have to relocate the dogs or kill them to stop it.
You have two problems though. Most chicken killers will run off but an aggressive pit pull may fight. If you can identify this dog I would go to my neighbors and nicely ask him to come see what his dog did and put the dog up and make restitution. If he says it wasn't my dog...well then you won't be shooting your neighbors dog the next time he shows up on your property.
Most likely he will send the dog elsewhere either way for liability reasons though.
Good morning everyone!
Rose - I'm so frustrated for you. :-(
I hope that animal control catches that dog, so you can go back to living in peace. My neighbor had a nasty Rottweiler that would get loose all of the time. I hated that dog (and I don't hate any animals usually).
The animal control came and took him 2 years back, but now those same people got a rottie puppy. *rolls eyes*
Have you brought the chicken killing pit bull to the attention of your neighbor? I'm so sorry about your chickens, especially since they were hand raised and given to you by a friend. We have a pitbull in our neighborhood, and he is the most unfriendly thing I've ever come across. He'll go after anything, big or little.
You didn't say if you reported this or not. I sure hope you do. I would hate to see the dog come back, when your children are outside. Even if you have a gun, what's to say you could get a clear shot if the dog was attacking. At least have it on record at the sheriff's department.
Are you going to report the incident? Does the dog's owner know what happened?
