Duchess and Becky ahve gone quiet, I know that they need to eat/feed animals, but whenever they go quiet I can't help but thinking foals????? Photos?????? : 0 )
Adge's feet are striped (I believe) because he has white socks but I'm not sure. However - genetic research on appaloosas has pretty much figured out that the appaloosa came from the Spanish or Portuguese horses (Iberian) with a little thrown in from Germany and Russia.
Essentially, that means the original spanish mustangs, not the current ones that are mostly feral ranch horses. So - if Adge has any mustang in him, he might also have some appaloosa :)
I missed the derby yesterday. We spent all afternoon putting up 24' X 24' pipe corrals (five of them) and then today, putting the 55' round pen back up. We had to move it yesterday to have room for the pipe corrals.
BamBam hasn't foaled yet (you were wrong Rose, drat!) but her belly has really dropped. I didn't check to see if she had waxed up again tonight, so I don't know about that.
It has rained on and off here for the past four days now. Paddocks are again deep in mud. We do overrun the water troughs though to help keep the horses feet from getting so dry during the summer. We use Koppertox for thrush when we get that, which isn't often, and some Corona or Hooflex on the hooves also when it's dry.
Hair - have your horses been out every day while the grass has been coming up? If so, I don't think I'd worry about it too much because they will have already become adjusted to it.
Hope everyone had a great Mother's Day.
