Don't declaw Coochie, he's too old and he'll bleed alot and it'll be horribly painful. Just clip his claws like you do the dog's toenails. Wrap him in a towel and get someone to help you if you have to. It takes both my Mother and I to clip her cat's nails, she doesn't appreciate it and very loudly lets us know it, but we manage. If we don't they start growing into the pads of her feet. We do it about once every month or so. I clip my cat's nails too. He doesn't appreciate it either, but I can do him by myself. He's none to careful with his when they're sharp and will bring blood when playing.

Congratulations on the new foal! That's wonderful.

Cindy, I agree with Frog...don't declaw that poor cat. Did you know they take a joint out, not just the claws?
