No, we don't have fire ants, just regular red and black ants, and they keep the fly population down, so they can stay....
send me your ant-hills :~D
My neighbor that I have been riding with stopped by last night to chat a minute. I told her I hadn't rode Rocky yet because I was out of fly spray, and she said to use Pinesol. Mix it half/half. Ever heard of that? My feed store won't get my Paranyha till next week. I don't want to run clear to Tulsa to get some, but it's really bad to ride without something. I was just wondering if someone had tried the Pinesol, if it was worth the effort?

I don't mind the normal ants either. I always used to have these teeny-weeny little ants get in my dry catfood barrel at my old barn but I didn't mind them coz they didn't bite and they let me know that the fire ants weren't in there. One time I wasn't paying attention to the size of the ants in there and scooped up a handful of catfood and got a handful of fire ants with it. Not fun! I'm sure I did a really funny looking dance trying to get them off and it took a week or so for the blisters to go away! So far I haven't had trouble with them getting into the feed room at the new barn.
One more good thing about having ants in the barn is that my barn cats never got fleas. I guess the ants were eating the flea larva.
