Yes - this is not competive riding. The horses place (win) based on a combination of things. Their time of course, plus their condition and attitude at the vet checks and at the end of the race.

Their time is figured by when they pass pulse and respiration, not when they actually cross the finish line. It's the same at the vet checks. For the tirty milers, a hold of one hour, AFTER the horse is okay P&R, not based on when you get there.

Tracey rode one with her mare where she finished first, however, it took 13 seconds longer for Eygpt to get a P&R than the horse that was behind her, so her placing was second. Am I making sense there?

Yes... Although I'm not familiar with all the scoring... I understand how the timing works, with the cool down time, but how is attitude and condition worked into it?
