This is a horse chat thread where we share ideas, ask for input from other horsemen, and talk about our riding and horse-keeping. We have a lot of different kinds of riders and horses, and a lot to share. In the previous threads we have had a great time talking through lessons, training, horse lamenesses, illnesses and pregnancies... and always sharing pictures and stories.
I always have a link to this thread on my profile page, so if you have something to say and can't find the thread in latest posts look for it there and wake the thread up!
I also have a ping list for horse threads that are of interest, and Becky pings everyone most mornings. Let Becky (Paynoattentionmanbehindthecurtain) and/or me know if you would like to be on the ping list. As FreeRepublic is a political site, our politics and other issues will probably blend in . There are many issues for horsemen that touch politics land use, animal rights/abuse cases that make the news . Legislation that might affect horse owners.
So... like the previous threads, this is intended as fun place to come and share stories, pictures, questions and chit-chat, unguided and unmoderated and that we come together here as friends. There are lots of ways of doing things and we all have our quirks, tricks and specialties that are neat to learn about.

New folk and occasional posters, jump right in and introduce yourselves, tell us about your horses, and post pictures if you've got them!
I'm proud to be an Okie from Muskogee...
Me either. If I could give it once a month, I wonder if I'd almost have a child's pony ;~D

It might be worth looking into for training but I don't know how much the effect is. Winnie just got the shot yesterday and they said it would take a couple of days to kick in. I had to ACE her when I got her home.
Looks great! You're way ahead of me!
I think I remember hearing about tranquilizers that stay in system for a long time at the rides I use to compete in. I don't know how effective they stay, but residue stays and will show up in a drug test and get you disqualified.

Report back on how it works as you go!
I'm headed out to the horses too. Gonna be lots of lunging going on:')
You can get suspended or banned from some the organizations that you might be a member of, also. Didn't some of the olympics winners get disqualified for drugs? I think it was steroids, though.
Will do!
Well, those of you doing horsey things today, come back and tell about it! take pictures!
Good morning everyone,
Thankyou for your prayers, Mama is holding on at the moment but things are not looking good. She was given 24hrs yesterday.
Jacob had a good time yesterday and I managed to make things fun for him.
I am hoping to take some pics today and will post them later if time is on my side.
Prayers continue for your family and deaconjim's mom.
I would love to see pics today. It is so unbelievably wet here!
Great! I love the pic of the kids at the lake.
I made them smaller for those on dial up. I am heading outside now, and may get some pics to post!
Hope your weather clears up! We have a sunshiney day and next week its going to be in high 80s! : D
What beautiful pictures! I like the first one the best, with all the colorful flowers.
I have a funny story for ya'll. Last night my husband and 11 year old son were at Tractor Supply. My husband called me from his cell phone while in the store to ask me if I needed something and while we were talking, he suddenly started screaming. I was yelling, "what's wrong!?" When he finally got control of himself, he said that our son popped him with a cattle prod. Now normally, something like that isn't funny but stuff like that happens to my husband all the time. I was trying very hard not to laugh but it wasn't easy.
Oh I disagree! Maybe not funny to him, and maybe not to your son anymore, but for the rest of us spectators, it's funny as heck! :~D
I've often wondered how much zap those things have in them... is it about as strong as a fence? or stronger?
Judging from the way my husband was screaming, it must have been a pretty good jolt. Can you imagine if that store got it on hidden camera? It could end up on funniest home videos. At the very least, those Tractor Supply employees would get a good laugh.
OOOh, that was funny! I must check them out next time I am in the hardware store! Show deaconjim it! Hehe! : D
