This is a horse chat thread where we share ideas, ask for input from other horsemen, and talk about our riding and horse-keeping. We have a lot of different kinds of riders and horses, and a lot to share. In the previous threads we have had a great time talking through lessons, training, horse lamenesses, illnesses and pregnancies... and always sharing pictures and stories.
I always have a link to this thread on my profile page, so if you have something to say and can't find the thread in latest posts look for it there and wake the thread up!
I also have a ping list for horse threads that are of interest, and Becky pings everyone most mornings. Let Becky (Paynoattentionmanbehindthecurtain) and/or me know if you would like to be on the ping list. As FreeRepublic is a political site, our politics and other issues will probably blend in . There are many issues for horsemen that touch politics land use, animal rights/abuse cases that make the news . Legislation that might affect horse owners.
So... like the previous threads, this is intended as fun place to come and share stories, pictures, questions and chit-chat, unguided and unmoderated and that we come together here as friends. There are lots of ways of doing things and we all have our quirks, tricks and specialties that are neat to learn about.

New folk and occasional posters, jump right in and introduce yourselves, tell us about your horses, and post pictures if you've got them!
I like a 12ft long, 3/4" thick nylon yacht cord lead with heavy twist-lock brass snap on one end and an 8" latego popper on the other and buying them from one of the popular trainer's website is incredibly expensive. I thought "I can make one for a whole lot less than that", so I decided to try. Learning how to splice the rope was the hard part, but once you get the hang of it, it's not that difficult. I get a little better at it each time I make one. I haven't sold any yet, just made them and given them away to my riding buddies so far, but one of my friends friends wants one so I might sell one to her if I have enough rope left.
Thanks Hair, I appreciate that.
Just got back from Super Walmart, now I'm heading up to the school to pick the kidlets up.
We have a new super Walmart and it's still nice and clean.
What a day I have had:)
Finished house work.
Rode 2 horses.
Went to Bank, Walmart, grocery store, and the nursery.
Came home prepared food.
Planted flowers.
Worked out.
Cooked supper.
And I'm now waiting for the ladies to arrive to play bunko or something.

Well I'm glad, not for your troubles but that Winnie has a good home with you. Maybe it will work and she will not have any more pain.
Good for you! I got my house clean, but it was not achieved without snags... I had a big problem trying to put up my new birdhouse, and I had a bigger problem when I had to dismantle and pull a clog the size of a small cat out of the vacuum cleaner. What a mess. ;~D
Add me to the list of limping. I'm trying to clean my room and out of the blue the $&^%cat jumped out and bit my ankle. I kicked him away and hit my ankle bone just right on his head. It didn't phase him but I can hardly touch it. I'm thinking it wasn't the cat but something else I hit.
No kidding. I should have never called someone with that farm name.
Thanks, Janis, I appreciate that.
oops! Hope nothing is broken. I love cats but don't have a lot of luck with them, they always seem to target me for the one to trip up and dart out in front of! : )
I'm late again getting on. I can't remember, how long have you had Winnie?
One of the biggest causes of navicular out here is riding over rocks.
I think I just hit a nerve caz it's just sore now. I really like this cat. I'm not much of a cat person but he's more like a dog. He just wanted to play but momma don't put up with biting.
Old Cavalry horses wore a halter under the bridle. The halter lead line was carried back under the pommel of the saddle, loose, with the end hanging out beside the riders leg. Should you fall off your horse, another rider can ride up beside it, reach over to the saddle, grab the lead line and bring the horse back to you. Never tie up your horse with the reins of the bridle, no matter what you see on tv or in the movies. If the horse should spook he could get a cut tongue or worse.
Good luck and enjoy your horse.
About 6 months or so. Maybe a little longer.
I've had 2 horses with this problem, counting Winnie. The other one was pretty typical, large body, small feet. He was really bad on both front feet. Winnie only has a problem on her front right. I went ahead and had the left x-rayed to see if anything was going on over there and they showed no obvious problems.
Good morning.
Becky
I've come to the conclusion that where vacum cleaners are concerned, I'm cursed:) I've tried cheap ones, and expensive ones, they never last more then a year or so.
Does Rosie get there today? How long is she staying?
Nice day today here. Actually it is looking good thru the weekend.
