This is a horse chat thread where we share ideas, ask for input from other horsemen, and talk about our riding and horse-keeping. We have a lot of different kinds of riders and horses, and a lot to share. In the previous threads we have had a great time talking through lessons, training, horse lamenesses, illnesses and pregnancies... and always sharing pictures and stories.
I always have a link to this thread on my profile page, so if you have something to say and can't find the thread in latest posts look for it there and wake the thread up!
I also have a ping list for horse threads that are of interest, and Becky pings everyone most mornings. Let Becky (Paynoattentionmanbehindthecurtain) and/or me know if you would like to be on the ping list. As FreeRepublic is a political site, our politics and other issues will probably blend in . There are many issues for horsemen that touch politics land use, animal rights/abuse cases that make the news . Legislation that might affect horse owners.
So... like the previous threads, this is intended as fun place to come and share stories, pictures, questions and chit-chat, unguided and unmoderated and that we come together here as friends. There are lots of ways of doing things and we all have our quirks, tricks and specialties that are neat to learn about.

New folk and occasional posters, jump right in and introduce yourselves, tell us about your horses, and post pictures if you've got them!
Sunday morning huh - boy I was hoping for tonight...Dusty is really sick of being pregnant. She tried to bite Bob last night. This is a mare we raised from a baby, eight years old now, who has never dreamed of biting :) I don't think she tried real hard though, since she only got his jacket.
Night. Give him a hug from me (and maybe a treat?)
That would be perfect for what I need. Thanks for the suggestion. I'm going to Lowe's first thing and picking some up.
Becky
Don't you have one due in May also?
Becky
Good morning.
Still raining here. But I am going to go get some cement blocks to make the cavalettis with.
Becky
Yep. Truly's due first and Bluebell 3 or 4 weeks later. It's gonna be an exciting April, but I hate the waiting!
Maybe you can get two, one for you and one for your Dad.
I've heard of people putting their pets on antidepressants and if ever a dog looked like he needed them, it's Homer. Poor ol' guy! Hopefully you won't have to hurt him too much putting the medicine in his ears. You hate to I know, but you gotta. How long will you have to do it?
I hate the waiting too:) I've tried not to even think about it, but with so many people waiting and so many due anytime, well....I'm ready for it to be Belle's turn:)
Becky
I just got a phone call from choctawsquaw....she has a new filly:) She looks like her momma, sorrel with a blaze on her face.
Everything appears to be fine, CS has seen her nurse. CS says the filly is very tiny.
She told me to make the announcement, and will post pictures later. She needs batteries for her camera:)
Becky
WooHoo! Go take her some batteries!
WOO HOO! Can't wait for the pics!
He's still a little mopey this morning, but we did get some ear med in him last night. He can go till this evening I think, let him recover a bit today before we drug him again for the bad part. :~\
In my experience, he should be mostly cleared up in a week.
Oh, so you're giving him medicine to kinda knock him out before you do the ear meds?
Yeah - he's that bad about it he scrambles and cries!
Got doggie downers to get him doped again tonight and we'll give him the works.
Well, ever indecisive, I have given Homer a couple of the downers so I can treat his ears this morning. He started to whine and flop and scratch this morning again, so I decided he shouldn't go without medicine in his ears all day, especially right now at first. So I'm waiting for the sedative to take effect so I can get some goop in his ears. He might just spend this whole week in a drug induced fog.
Well, that's probably the best thing with his ears being the way they are. It'll keep him more comfortable until they're better. Of course you may have to send him to the Betty Ford Clinic for doggy downer addiction when he's done. ;o)
Indeed! He's been treated now... I only needed his compliance for about 30 seconds... I didn't really need him drunk for the whole morning now :~\
