This is a horse chat thread where we share ideas, ask for input from other horsemen, and talk about our riding and horse-keeping. We have a lot of different kinds of riders and horses, and a lot to share. In the previous threads we have had a great time talking through lessons, training, horse lamenesses, illnesses and pregnancies... and always sharing pictures and stories.
I always have a link to this thread on my profile page, so if you have something to say and can't find the thread in latest posts… look for it there and wake the thread up!
I also have a ping list for horse threads that are of interest, and Becky pings everyone most mornings. Let Becky (Paynoattentionmanbehindthecurtain) and/or me know if you would like to be on the ping list. As FreeRepublic is a political site, our politics and other issues will probably blend in…. There are many issues for horsemen that touch politics… land use, animal rights/abuse cases that make the news…. Legislation that might affect horse owners.
So... like the previous threads, this is intended as fun place to come and share stories, pictures, questions and chit-chat, unguided and unmoderated and that we come together here as friends. There are lots of ways of doing things and we all have our quirks, tricks and specialties that are neat to learn about.

I always worry about jumps that don't come down easy. I'm always worried that a horse will get careless and instead of knocking a rail down will get caught up in it instead. Or end up rapping the rail and hurting himself. That's a riot about the stallion though. I've never had a horse do that.
A colt, had 2 fillies 2 years ago. Really want a colt, Our stud is 14 years old and I want one to replace him when the time is right.

I've heard somewhere that mosquitos don't go over 15 or 20 feet off the ground. They probably don't go far over open water because they have no cover from birds and bats.
This has been a colt year so far - I only know one person that's had a filly. :)
:) She's past due now. By the time foaling season is done, I'm going to take a week off work to sleep around the clock for several days.
We need a pool on who's mare will foal first :) - maybe that will get our mares motivated.
It wasn't mites.... but a yeast infection in his ears.
The poor baby. Everytime I see his picture I want to pick him up and hug him and promise to love him forever.
He's really mournful. An old soul that's seen lots of something. I swear sometimes he seems much older than I am.
I'm so glad he's got you to take care of him. I do believe he deserves it and appreciates it.

Well if we are going to do dibs as to when the foals are going to be born, I say a filly to choctawsquaw Saturday night at 11:35pm and for you a filly on Sunday morning bright and early at 3:45am.
