thats one thing about it being the blalcony of our bedroom, no outside steps, no through way, no cats taking over the place like they have the porches downstairs! I can relax with my book, watch the horses and the children playing and be alone if I want to! I havent ever done that, and I am looking forward to using my retreat! : )
BTW I HATE cold tea! Urghhh ......I love it hot though!

LOL! I can tell you're not a Southern Girl! That's why I specified ICED tea, otherwise it would've been a given. Down here, if you say you're drinking tea, it's gonna be sweet, and ice cold. But whatever your beverage, having it on the porch swing makes it better.

These days, my camera goes everywhere I do, but I'm sure I'll find about this baby after the fact. My mares are at my in-law's, but my MIL knows to keep an eye on her throughout the day and to be sure and call me if she sees her acting strangely. If she foals during the night, we'll (hopefully) just have a pleasant surprise the next morning.

When I went to pick up Bob from the Vet's yesterday afternoon, there was a couple there with a foal that wasn't doing very well. The mare either wasn't producing colostrum or the foal was too weak to nurse. The Vet was going to give it colostrum some way or another. I only got to talk to him in passing, he was very busy. It was a pretty little palomino or cremello. The mare was sorrel. I hope it did ok, and I sure do hope I don't have any troubles like that!

Well I've gotten some housework done while watching the weather for an opprotunity to at least get Rusty's 15 minutes in. It's raining lightly, and from the looks of the radar is could just get worse, so off I go to ride in the rain:(.I hate that but I want to make sure Rusty gets done.

Frog, sounds like your mares always go a bit early..??? For Belle my dates are figured 342 days from the breeding days.

Me and you both.

Kristy has a friend that has lost 2 out of 2 foals this year:(. Nothing that could have been prevented, just bad luck.

It really worries me that Belle isn't any bigger then she is. I'll feel alot better when she starts to bag up.

Could you have possibly missed the date she was bred?

Misty didnt look anywhere near as pregnant as Sugar, but had Adge one month before Thunder was born. She is a lot more horse than Sugar with a long back whereas Sugar is shorter. I guess its like us ladies, some show pregnancy a lot more than others!
I will just hope and pray with you that she does ok, reading about your friend that lost two out of two, makes me realise how lucky we are to have two very healthy robust foals. The vet commented on how well filled out they were at birth! He thought all the horses were in very good shape, which is reasuring to know!

Still partially blue. No more changes yet that I can see. I'll have to get some more pictures of him for you, he's growing like a weed. :)

According to my husband (who yells about this to me when I figure dates) figure from the last date she was bred, she would have ovulated in the last 48 hours.

I would figure using the 326days for her. But, apparently according to research at Horse Magazine or one of those, colts will be longer than fillies. Also, according to my husband, add an extra day each time - each successive foal goes a day longer. I'm not sure I buy that :)

The vet said she was a big mare, long bodied. But still, I'm sure she was bigger then this at this time with Dot, and I thought Dot was scrawny when she was born.

No way I missed the dates. We had to bring her here, halter bred her to our stud, then as soon as the last breeding day was done I took her back to the pasture. I had her vet checked 45 days later and the vet said she was right where she should be.

When I had her vet checked 2 months ago the vet said she was in foal, but it was small, but not so small to cause any worry.

She'll probably have a little bitty midget buckskin pony:)

I'm not sure about the first one but the second one had a front leg backwards, by the time they realized there was a problem and the vet got there it was already dead.
