Here I am on West Coast time, late as usual to the party ....

Well, darn. Just when I think I've got it all figured out (who will win, that is), the kids upset the apple cart. I was very disappointed in Carrie's second performance (a first for me) and in Vonzelle's first song (though if her dog died today, poor kid, I don't know if I could have sung at all in her shoes!). And astoundingly, I was really impressed by Anthony tonight. He's coming up strong -- something I would not have predicted at all a few weeks ago. He must be logging a lot of practice room time! Did they cut his second song short, BTW? He was so much better than Carrie with that song, but I think it was mostly the fault of the key. Carrie's rendition was pitched waaaaaaaay too low for her. She has a weak lower register anyway, and that just didn't fly. She needed to move up three or four tones. The show's music arranger either has it in for her or should be shot for general incompetence. Anthony's rendition, by contrast, was pitched right in the middle of his sweet spot. Sounded great! But I wish he'd quit wagging his index finger at us all ... LOL!

Let's see, what haven't I covered ... Bo's first song was apparently phoned in, but I thought he nailed the second one. That said, that song requires almost no range, so while his rendition was excellent, it didn't really show off what voice he has. And why does he insist on carrying the mike stand at all times? Is it his "lovey" or something? Will he lose his balance and fall over without it?

Dunno who I'm voting for tonight. For the first time, I'm tempted to vote for Wonder Bread. I'm off to think about it!

Mornin' :)

Last night's show was a bit dull. It seemed like everybody had a good song and a bad song--and the good songs weren't that great.

But my Spidey-Sense was tingling over Vonzelle. Her tears, her cutesy Shirley Temple smile, her pimped-out dad suddenly appearing in the audience, causing her to cry even more--it was all too much for me. And now we find out that her dog died, too??? Sheesh! I don't believe it. Vonzelle knows she's in extreme danger this week and I think she was playing the sympathy card for all it was worth.
