I've never heard of one performer singing another performer's song on the same night.

Although I can't recall exactly who and when, it has happened before. Oh, yes, I do recall that in the first season, they had both Kelly and Justin Guarini sing "A Moment Like This" in their final judged performances.

It happened during a regular season performance, too. I'll try to find out when and what song.

That's because "Moment Like This" was the Idol song for release.

Fantasia and Diana both sang "I Believe" last year for the same reason.

But I don't ever recall a song during the regular competition.

Yeah, but that's different. The final two always sing the same song. I don't think what happened tonight, though, as ever happened before.
