Late again, but this time, in before the results. Ha!*
On the whole, I thought the singers did a great job with song selection, and everyone seemed to come out swinging. It's going to be tough to see anyone leave this week after that, but that's the way it goes. One caveat: I watched this with a crying baby in the room, so people may have sounded better or worse than they really were...
- Vonzelle -- Thanks for stepping up this week after I named you my favorite to win it all! With the exception of the last note, I thought this was virtually flawless. Great choice, excellent performance, nice voice, beautiful girl. Who could ask for more?
- Constantine -- I thought going in that the theme favored Vonzelle and Lt. Dan. Not much of a surprise that they both came through. They guy is still a bit scummy, but he had a convincing performance, and really seemed to fit into the style well.
- Bo -- Great choice, strong performance, still slightly hampered by not having the range of the others, but seems to make up for it with power and emotion. Just please, please, step away from the microphone stand, and no one will get hurt...
- Scott -- His best performance in weeks, and he opened up a little personality-wise, especially in the pre-song interview. I though the growling nature of his voice was an obvious affectation, which detracts from his strongest point -- his singing.
- Anwar -- He really should have done better with this style. As it was, an entirely forgettable performance. He may be the one to go this week.
- Anthony -- Dude, where's my boy band? He would have stood a better chance a t making a mark if he'd tried to show off that Latin dancing, as it was, it is pretty much a typical "Anthony" performance, not nearly good enough this week, though his fan base will carry him.
- Carrie -- A complete duck out of water. I think she could have done better with selection, and this style really exposes her lack of physical presence. Right now, Carries's stock is dropping, as Vonzelle's is rising.
* - I
started this early enough to beat the results, but then had to comfort a baby in his "witching hour"...
I don't know if I agree with your summary this time--well, not ALL of it. You're right about Carrie being out of her element, but she did her best, I thought.
BTW, I admire your dedication--watching the show with a crying newborn must take added effort :)
