Yep. Although it opened in the top 10 when first release, it dropped faster than a submarine with a hole in it. Kelly, Gwen Stefani and Mariah Carey are the solo female artists to beat for Grammy nods this year. Of the three, Kelly's is the only true pop/rock album. Gwen's is more of a rap/hip-hop album, and she's only had one hit single off it. Mariah Carey is, well, Mariah Carey. Her name, alone, gives her a boost come awards time.
Since I don't usually follow the Grammys, I don't know what the various award categories are, but I'd be surprised if these three women aren't nominated for something. Unfortunately, the Grammys have been heavily tilted toward the so-called urban genre for the last several years. Blech!
