However, when I spoke with the salesman on the phone he initially could only match the deal I could make in the store. So, I told him I would just get my service in the store. He then began to suggest that he could get me a better camera phone for free if I went with him. (I guess they work on commision) Well, the long and short of it is that I ordered my phones (3 of them) from him and got my phones in today. The thing is, it was the same phone I could have got last saturday.
I called and wasted 4 hours on the phone with the sales department and all they would say is that the more expensive phones were just that and I would not get an upgrade without paying for it.
Their salesperson lied, plain and simple. I suggested the person be fired and was blown off.
Due to my experience, I would recommend getting your wireless service elsewhere.
IMNTBHO
OH, I sent back the phones and cancelled the contract.
Should go with Verizon Wireless, IMHO.
Don't even get me started on Cingular! Grrrrr.
I've never had a problem with them in 4 years. Sorry to hear you did.
so how is the coverage
i had at&t wireless. sux, bad.
then they got bought out by cingular.
my contract's up in june.
i think i'll shop around. this doesn't sound good.
4 hours on the phone? Bwahahahaha!
cingular does suck i agree,
I have had Verizon for several years and I'm very happy with them. My service is under $100 for 3 phones, none have cameras though.
Can you hear me now?
I did the same thing, cancelled the contract after one day. Why? Couldn't use the phone from my house, worthless. Went with Verizon, never a problem.
Yes they do!
Cell One is much worse, though.
Back to Verizon for me...they are only "very bad"....but better than the others.
Another Verizon user - very happy. I've dealt with customer service a few times and it's always prompt, usually efficient, and friendly. We have 4 phones with our daughter using one with a California area code while ours are Hawaii - all for around $110 a month. We can call each other on each other's cell phones at no minute charge - and it gets tons of use as she checks with me sometimes several times a day. (How did I ever get along as a teenager when I went off to college and only called home twice the whole year??- of course college was in Spain and rates wre $20/minute).
We've found very good coverage across the country, have kept Verizon consistently.
I picked up AT&T as a business cell about a year and a half ago. Now Cingular owns them. I went in last month for a new phone and they wouldn't sell me one without signing a new contract.
Since they couldn't give me a logical reason for forcing me into a new contract just because I wanted to buy a new phone I calmly told the sales rep to go f himself and left.
But speaking of lousy customer service! My daughter bought a gas range from a --um-- national store. Since we live near the middle of nowhere, we brought it home ourselves. But when it came time to connect the gas hose, NO ONE in the entire company could tell us the size needed for the connecting adaptor. pathetic!
People still use cell phones? That is so 2004ish....
As soon as my contract is up, I'm going to Verizon.
I HATE Cingular. Finally, I decided to switch. I went to my local AT&T Wireless dealer and got a phone. The next day they announced they were merging w/ Cingular...
Now I'm finally out of my contract and can freely go beyond Cingular. Yeah!!!!
I had to call every month to get false charges removed from my account (they continually charged me roaming for in-town calls). Their customer service would hang up on me if I asked them for their ID number.
We've had Cingular for a little under 2 years now and had nothing but problems. Incorrect bills, sales people who have lied, rude customer service representatives and more service problems then anyone would expect or accept.
After our contract is up we will look for another company.
I have heard a lot of good things about Verizon.
To provide a variation on your theme, I would like to go ahead and add T-Mobile to the "suck" category.
They have lousy coverage, only mediocre quality, and terrible customer service, with agents in their employ that border on being complete mental idiots.
Are you telling me that a salesman over the phone lied to you? I'M SHOCKED!
Then the change came. They changed to Cingular. This was during the last year I was there.
The commisions on new number activations had gotten so low that the sales force from Corporate were like a bunch of vampires. They hired some real scumbags. At that time the number of people with active numbers who needed new phones or wanted the latest technology, outnumbered the new activations. When a salesperson found out that a customer already had an active number, they were treated as if they had the plaque. I got out just in time. The whole business is a sewer now.
