Well?

.

. Every movie I rent (I'm talking Latest Hollywood releases, wiseguys)feature's a "woman" that looks like a 12 year old boy with breasts. What's up with that?

Where are the Gina Lollobrigida's!!?? (look her up on your new-fangled google ya bunch of whippersnappers!)

Although makeup and clothes can hide and disguise flaws, I am pretty sure back then what you saw was what you got...as opposed to now...

Have you ever seen paintings by Rubens?

The women portrayed as beautiful are generally plump, and certainly always have curves. That is usually ascribed to the fashion of the times.

So, why would the idea of beauty be for "full figured" women (and corpulent men)? Well, ever hear of a little thing called plaque (also known as the black death)? If a woman was plump, curvaceous, you could pretty well bet she didn't have plaque.

I've actually been surprised that, with the spread of AIDS (known in Africa as "the wasting disease") we haven't seen a return to the Rubenesque physique as the ideal.

The idea still hangs around when someone describes a full figured woman as "healthy."

Something to think about.....

In the 50s, Marilyn Monroe was considered the ultimate sex symbol. The famous picture of her standing over the grate with her skirt blown up? That dress was a size 14.

Most actresses today wear anywhere from a size 0 to a size 4.

Which is sexier?

Pay the bills, make sure the kids have what they need (and sometimes want), and give me Grocery money. That's all it takes for me. Simple country girl from Kentucky. JK

Sounds good to me.
I am now in a bit better position financially then I was last year. I can now afford to buy a new stereo receiver to replace the old one that lost the right channel several months ago. I had a cosmetic repair done on the Camaro that’s been needed for over a year. I’m not trying to live on rice and water for the last week of the month.
I would like to have a sizable disposable income, but then I would have to bother with investments. My grocery shopping would become more complicated – trying to figure what steak to buy instead of just picking up a pack of extra lean ground beef. I might even be tempted to try out a Yuppie bar instead of my favorite watering hole where the Budweiser cost $1.75 a bottle, the draught beer is $1.50, the pool tables are level and flat and the staff and customers are friendly.
What more do I need?

Look for the pin-ups from the 40's - 60's.

If an actress or model was shaped like that, those in the modeling and acting industry would call her morbidly obese. I beg to differ! I think she looks great!

The fashion market is NOT dictated by the consumer.

It is dictated by gay men which is why runway models look like 13 year old boys.

Gotta say that my sister knows how to have a good time. And to think she had a real big soccer game to play in later that morning! ;-)

It would be interesting to know what time that photo was taken....

Looks like about 6:00 a.m. to me in August.
