Well?

.

. Every movie I rent (I'm talking Latest Hollywood releases, wiseguys)feature's a "woman" that looks like a 12 year old boy with breasts. What's up with that?

Where are the Gina Lollobrigida's!!?? (look her up on your new-fangled google ya bunch of whippersnappers!)

I know what you're thinking: "Why did he post this?" I dunno.

Thanks for the ping... fashion is dominated by the gay male hegemony and women have fallen for it hook, line and sinker. There's a lot I can say but another freeper had such a great post about this issue. It's all about sex and beauty image and sometimes I'm amazed at how I bought into this myself. I remember looking at the girl who sewed her own confederate flag prom dress and thinking 'She's too fat for that dress. I wouldnt' be caught dead in that thing. ' Completely self hating because we looked the same size. Then recently on America's Top Model, there was a gorgeous plus sized girl and she almost made the final show which the panel didn't expect except Tyra who liked her. That's why I'm glad there are more ethnic models and actresses, from Eastern Europe to Latin America.

I am now losing weight for myself and not so guys could look at me more. I'm also petite and weight gain is very apparent. After the disastrous break up I had, I think I gained at least twenty or thirty pounds in one year. I found myself staying at home and not wanting to go outside at all.

Some of us have curves, and there are plenty of men who appreciate them.

Yep. BTW...You sound like you're built like Mrs. VC.

You know it. She worries about it alot more than I do.

When we first got together 8 years ago, she was 5' even, and a good 110 pounds. She's put on about 25 pounds in the time since. It bothers her, but it makes little difference to me. I can actually take her to a club and not have to worry about having to get ugly with some redneck that don't know how to act in front of a beautiful woman.

Your picture of Gina L. shows a woman who is carrying 25 more pounds than todays Hollywood women and her shape is dictated by that skimpy gold outfit she is wearing.

Some women are neurotic about weight after they're married because of a little insecurity. I dunno... I think a lot of women are nuts in general about size.

P.S. - perhaps we should start posting pictures of 'real women'. You know, the ones who have not had surgery, nothing enhanced and have had a child or two ( or more).

It is possible to be beautiful and not small.

Personally, nowadays - when you have seen one, you have seen them all. The curves are what make each of us special and different. I refuse to look like a 'clone' because society says I have to. Just Me.

Even Sophia Loren reacted to Jayne Mansfield:

But there are still some around today who aren't exactly anorexic

This was a wonderful movie - it spoke volumes! I would love to see the Hollywood crowd take this, ingest it, and realize the stats of women in this country do not fit the criteria of casting in the circle of studios. Time to bring them into the 'new age' of sizedom!

It's weird. Most of my fellow lower-middle class suburbanites like to see a woman with meat on her bones. But all the women I see in the high end country club subdivisions I work in are all bone skinny.

For me, baby gotta have back. ;)

That was my first life.

This time around, with a spouse searching for the all mighty dollar, miserable is the feeling of each day. I'm simple. Pay the bills, make sure the kids have what they need (and sometimes want), and give me Grocery money. That's all it takes for me. Simple country girl from Kentucky. JK
