I carry my Palm everywhere and use it a lot but I do notice a lot of the guys at work get more out of their daytimers than I do out of my palm. For one thing writing stuff is faster on real paper. I am a gadget nut but fully realize they are not always a real improvement. It totally depends on your usage profile. I use to jot notes on postit and then lose them. Now I keep them safe in the Palm so it works really well for me.
I mainly use my palm for shopping lists, reminders and contacts. That and my secret plans for global domination.

Plus real writing means you get to use pens.

I mainly use my palm for shopping lists, reminders and contacts. And I think that's exactly what the wife needs. She's managing her personal life, her teaching life, her church life, her mom's life, her mom's doctors lives, negotiating with her siblings to still be a part of their mom's life, Jr's life and Luke's life...
I pretty much keep the house and paperwork in running order and cover for her when she can't be in seven places at once.
Maybe we should just hire a scheduler...
