I have a '70's film with Richard Chamberlain. Several films came out then, with a lot of the same people in them..."Man in the Iron Mask" is another in my collection.

There was one very recently but a lot of the plot lines were entirely different IIRC.

Mwahahaha.... yes, that would have been pretty obvious if they'd done that... I thought it was a valid reinterpretation. And the guy who played Mondego, I liked how he played him.

I like Dumas' work enough to forgive the man for bein' French... not enough to pretend he wasn't French, like I do with Jules Verne.

One of the episodes that I recall from the book as being very important, I've never seen in a film version...Rome at Carnival, where Albert, Franz and ?? (I have to read it again now!) meet the Count, before he comes to Paris.

It's like leaving Waterloo out of Les Miz :)

Jules Verne was a time traveller.

Or an alien.

But not French ;-)

I like the way you think.

I recall that being in the recent film version. And it's in the anime, though it's on Luna, not in Rome.

Sure, I figure H.G. Wells got the idea for The Time Machine from Verne.

Now we all know that Jules and Vern were the sons of Emmett and Clara (Clayton) Brown.

How they got to France in the 1850-70 frame is conjectured and has something to do with a flying locomotive, though any who reported seeing such a thing were immediately taken up for insanity (that how Spanish gained the word "loco" for "crazy").

This can be verified. I will gather the necessary documents and present them for your perusal in about 46 years.

Didn't Verne write a time travel story?

If he did, I don't think it's one of his famous ones. I'm too lazy to Google it right now... ;)

Oh, wait... were you perhaps thinking about Paris in the 20th Century, the "lost" novel that was found and published in 1994?

Haven't read it here either.

It was never published as a Classics Illustratred comic book...

Heh, heh... that's how I read all of Verne's famous works... except for Journey to the Center of the Earth, which book I actually read as a youngster.

I need to file mine (e-file, that is) tomorrow, probably. Been stalling since I owe. But...I won't have internet at home after the next two days or so.

That's the best one, IMO.

We'll owe big-time on our personal taxes, so they won't go in until April 15. Business taxes are due March 15, though.
