Just for levity and to give us all a respite from the troubles of the world, I would like to throw out a question. What do you consider to be the greatest non-country driving songs of all time. So far my list contains the following:

Radar Love (In my opinion the absolute best)-Golden Earring; Magic Carpet Ride-Steppenwolf; Riders On The Storm-The Doors; Two Tickets To Paradise-Eddie Money; Born to Be Wild-Steppenwolf; Born To Run-Bruce Springsteen; Paradise by the Dashboard Lights-Meatloaf; Fire-Jimmie Hendrix; Hollywood Nights-Bob Seeger

So what do you think? Let's here your suggestions.

I agree with all of your picks and add Blondie's "The hardest part".

"Melissa" by Allman brothers is one of my faves...

Then there is
"Blue Sky" by Allman bros:
"Good ol' Sunday Morning bells are ringing everywhere,
Goin' to Carolina, wont be long before I get there,"

I was listening to these lyrics on a 24hour stright drive from Texas to Carolina. we drove through the night, and on about 7am Sunday we hit Georgia and I-95 ... popped that song on, it really hit the spot.

"Southbound", "Rambing Man" etc. Then in "Melissa":
'Crossroads, seem to come and go, ...Gypsy flies from coast to coast'

... this band must have written a lot of songs on the road.
I'd rate the Allman bros as the #1 Driving Song band.

Yea my wife can tell you a story about 'Ride of the Valkyries' a rainy night and a busy highway in the mountains of WNC. Screaming through the night with Semi's on one side and nothing but blackness on the other. What a rush, the Valkyries would have been proud. (I'm really getting too old for this stuff)

She still beats me up over that one every once and a while.
