Sokay. I don't read all the posts on long threads either and get similarly burned. :)

I've been to a few cons that had Majel as a guest. She's generally very gracious and whatever politics she actually entertains, she's generally classy enough not to parade in front of everyone.

The Political History of Science Fiction

He's coming from a libertarian POV, btw

Coming in a wee bit late on this, but I think David Brin is a conservative. Spider Robinson is a libertarian, although in his editorial "Rah Rah R.A.H!" he was very pro-American and for a strong defense.

Ellison may be a lefty but his best stories were about the human condition and rose above politics...Norman Spinrad is another lefty who wrote some great satires; I can't stand his politics but I actually like "The Big Flash" with its parody of the late Sixties rock culture and "World War Last" which was hilarious. I think Philip Jose Farmer might have been conservative leaning in his Riverworld novels.

Not to mention Jerry Pournelle (who has his own website with his political views as well)...

pournelle is one of mine as well, i just wish he was more prolific. I was also disappointed that niven's last ringworld book was more like a long short-story.

Some other authors I haven't seen mentioned here that I read (but know nothing about their politics) are Vernor Vinge and Jack Vance.

To: EveningStar; Hi Heels

Let me just say the most vocal and obnoxious scifi fans are enjoy adopting liberal views because liberal views support their non-mainstream unhealthy life styles and morality. If a person is observant of some scifi fans at science fiction conventions, there are several 'scifi family secrets' reveiled.
=
I do know about this recent communication from a large scifi fan group was sent on the Internet:

Felix (name edited) was just arrested by the Fresno County Sherrifs and Deptarment of Homeland Security for Collection and Distribution of Child Pornography over the internet. He was arrested while attending class at City college and the went to (name edited) house, where Felix was staying, and raided and seized all computers and questioned (name edited) Col. of Starfleet Marines, CAMP WENDEL and his family for 4 hours. Felix is to be arraigned and charged sometime tomorrow. This is a heads up to any of you who may have had extensive contact with Felix lately. Felix was (is no longer as of this moment) a member of my chapter, the USS Gallant. More news to come as it becomes available.

(name edited) Commodore - STARFLEET Commanding Officer - USS Gallant

And these events an organization seeking new membership advertises with many flyers for room parties sponsored by the orgainzation called, "Live the Dream". This is a sexual partner swapping 'polyamory' group.
Home Page of 'Live the Dream'

Another is another sexual contact group in fandom called "furries". Definition Page on 'Furries' fans.
Specifically get-togethers of the sexually active "toonophiles' and 'furverts'. Definition Page on 'Furverts'

And you just thought these conventions were populated a few 'different' costumed liberal people.
