*New* The FreeRepublic Saddle Club - Who's Who *pics*
Free Republic has a lot of horse people that have found each other on other threads . And since we all like to talk horses, how about a thread where it is not off-topic, but is THE topic?
This is a horse chat thread where we share ideas, ask for input from other horsemen, and talk about our riding and horse-keeping. We have a lot of different kinds of riders and horses, and a lot to share. In the previous threads we have had a great time talking through lessons, training, horse lamenesses, illnesses and pregnancies... and always sharing pictures and stories.
I always have a link to this thread on my profile page, so if you have something to say and can't find the thread in latest posts look for it there and wake the thread up!
I also have a ping list for horse threads that are of interest, and Becky pings everyone most mornings. Let Becky (Paynoattentionmanbehindthecurtain) and/or me know if you would like to be on the ping list. As FreeRepublic is a political site, our politics and other issues will probably blend in . There are many issues for horsemen that touch politics land use, animal rights/abuse cases that make the news . Legislation that might affect horse owners.
So... like the previous threads, this is intended as fun place to come and share stories, pictures, questions and chit-chat, unguided and unmoderated and that we come together here as friends. There are lots of ways of doing things and we all have our quirks, tricks and specialties that are neat to learn about.

New folk and occasional posters, jump right in and introduce yourselves, tell us about your horses, and post pictures if you've got them!
She didn't handle her experience at all like I would, I think some of her ideas are a little crazy, but I do believe that what saved her was the depth of her faith and very unusual personality. It's a fascinating story and people are/were trying to pee on it.
It's not a new behavior for Free Republic.
I've only seen her on the news for a few seconds and she looked in shock to me.
What has she done that's making people question her motives?
Nothing... If you haven't seen her interviews it wouldn't make sense to try to summarize the last 2000 posts about it.... The story is probably over now.
I saw some of that argument about her on another thread.
1. It would be interesting (to me anyway:) to know the age of the people who are doubting her story.
2. I'm not doubting it, but IMO, it doesn't bother me if people want to verify. But, in a situation like this that would be hard to do. 2 sayings that I apply to stuff like this, "trust but verify", and "listen to what they say, but watch what they do for the truth about charater and true beliefs in a person"

Asking theoretical questions they'd like to see asked is something curious people do. Nothing wrong with that really. This was more like name calling "Trashley" and accusations that she slept with and fell in love with this man. It was just really weird, and a sign of our times that people don't think it possible that things are only what they appear to be. There isn't ~always~ a secret sinister plot to uncover. Every reporter wants to be the one to uncover the next Watergate, and every FReeper now wants to be the next Buckhead.
Is a buckhead the same thing as a buckethead? :)
I agree. I think alot of people tend to look to deep for sinister, rather then for good. But you can tend to look to much for good too and not see the bad:). I take her story for what she said. She did turn the guy in...maybe not as soon as some would have, but she did. End of story. If she hadn't eventually turned him in and the police just tracked him there, "might" be something too the doubters.
Becky
Well she did good:)
Looney just dropped her horse Dot off here. She gets off work at 4:00. With the horse here she will come straight from work and we'll have time for some trails and arena. Dot seemed glad to see her momma:) Her and Belle did some laps around the arena.

I don't know if a regular computer keyboard will get sticky keys, so not sure you could answer this. But this remote one is sticking again today. I thought cleaning it yesterday would fix it. It did for a while. Do you know of anything to spray on them or put on them to help?
Becky
They do get sticky. First idea would be to turn it upside down and pound on it to get crumbs and dust out, then try taking a vacuum hose to it. Sometimes you can get it clean with a q-tip with a little rubbing alcohol on it. If it's really gummy, You can probably pop the sticky key (s) off and wipe with a damp cloth (dampened with alcohol is good).
I think it will end up being TE Final Fantasy. Grand Fantasy is taken and I don't believe the ApHC will accept TE Grand Fantasy as different enough.
My daughter will be so pleased, she saw the suggestions last night and has been asking me ever since if you picked Final Fantasy.
There is another name I really like, it's the name of a black Tennessee Walker that I saw at the rodeo many, many years ago. His name was Twilight Dream.
I like that name too - it doesn't fit this kid's personality but I'm going to keep it in mind for one of the next three.
Good deal. It's a gorgeous name and would really fit a black appaloosa.

These people live about a block from me.
I guess you missed my post yesterday:)
I took all the keys off, soaked them in hot water, and wiped the keyboard off with a warm damp cloth. Under the keys was really gross, dust, dog hair, gunk from when JP spill some pop on it.
After what I did yesterday, it work alot better, but it is slowly getting bad again.
I just wondered if I could put something like WD-40, or furnintre polish, vasoline on the keys backside. Will that mess up the computer when I put them back on.
Becky
OH! Yes! I missed that!
I think it's probably worn out, if the keys are clean and still don't have the spring they used to.... They do wear out. I get a new keyboard once a year.
OOOHHHHH, I didn't know that.
Becky
I use my keyboard a lot, as you know, so I wear them out.... you never notice them failing until you try a new one at the store and realize when they're new you don't have to punch the keys so dang hard!
My all-time favorite horse names I have filed away for some future horse are "Cadence", particularly for a dressage horse or one with a very rhythmic trot, or just plan "Music"... perhaps for one whose personality or movement is melodious rather than rhythmic.
