*New* The FreeRepublic Saddle Club - Who's Who *pics*
Free Republic has a lot of horse people that have found each other on other threads . And since we all like to talk horses, how about a thread where it is not off-topic, but is THE topic?
This is a horse chat thread where we share ideas, ask for input from other horsemen, and talk about our riding and horse-keeping. We have a lot of different kinds of riders and horses, and a lot to share. In the previous threads we have had a great time talking through lessons, training, horse lamenesses, illnesses and pregnancies... and always sharing pictures and stories.
I always have a link to this thread on my profile page, so if you have something to say and can't find the thread in latest posts look for it there and wake the thread up!
I also have a ping list for horse threads that are of interest, and Becky pings everyone most mornings. Let Becky (Paynoattentionmanbehindthecurtain) and/or me know if you would like to be on the ping list. As FreeRepublic is a political site, our politics and other issues will probably blend in . There are many issues for horsemen that touch politics land use, animal rights/abuse cases that make the news . Legislation that might affect horse owners.
So... like the previous threads, this is intended as fun place to come and share stories, pictures, questions and chit-chat, unguided and unmoderated and that we come together here as friends. There are lots of ways of doing things and we all have our quirks, tricks and specialties that are neat to learn about.

New folk and occasional posters, jump right in and introduce yourselves, tell us about your horses, and post pictures if you've got them!
Have you used that before? Does it sting? If your ENT doctor recommended it, I'll try it.
Yeah, I use it all the time. My husband will get up out of the bed in the middle of the night and use it if he gets stuffed up. It doesn't sting too much unless you mix it up too strong. I think it's the baking soda that keeps it from it. I also use filtered water. My husband mixes it up much stronger (more salt) than I do. He seems to think that more salt works better, but I just can't take it. After you use it one time, you can experiment with the salt content to see what works for you. He also likes to use the whole bottle at one time. I like to use about half, then do it again later.
Like most Texans I can use proper English when I need or want to but prefer Texican. Some don't understand that there is pride in being a "hick". Know what I mean?
How's the weather your way. I have to make a turn around trip to the Oklahoma border this weekend. My DIL in Iowa and her mom meeting me "half way" I think I'm going 35. I have to get the map out.
Yes Ma'am, I do! Not that we're any better than anybody else, we're just DIFFERENT.
My favorite word is "Mommanem" (the contraction of "Mama and them", with "them" being your other extended family). Like, "We're going over to Mammanem's to eat Sunday dinner", or "How's yermammanem?". Do y'all use that one?
I hadn't even realized I used that one lol. That's my favorite for my son and his family. "Joshanthem" Funny:')
I guess it's a culture tweak though because I do use the T in them but it's an and one word.
Yes, I know what you mean. One of my favorite words is "jeet". That's "did you eat" all in one.
I do. I don't try to mask my Southern accent a bit.
They keep saying it's gonna rain but right now it's just cloudy and chilly.
If you take 35 to Oklahoma you'll go right past my house. I'm up on a hill and during the winter when there are no leaves on the trees, you can see my house from the road. Let me know if you take 35 and I'll freepmail you and give you the exit and description of where I live. I better not do it on here, I've made too many freepers mad and I don't want them to know where I live. Is that paranoid?
I love Jeff Foxworthy's routine on Southern words like that. Cracks me up every time. You can't figure out what they mean until you hear them used in context, then it's like "OhYeeeeah!"
Not paranoid, just practical.
Jeff Foxworthy cracks me up, too. My husband got a CD the other day of some southern guy that was really funny. His humor is way too raunchy for kids but one of his jokes was about barbecue. He was in a northern state that bragged about their barbecue and his line was, "you don't know what good barbecue is. A Mexican with a goat and an onion will kick your ass!"
Have you seen the blue collar comedy tape. It's not really for kids but it's J Foxworthy, Larry the cable guy and two other comedians. It is so funny.
Good morning everyone.
I heard that in Pittsburg PA, it was supposed to be a typical expression of Pittsburg. 'How's yer momanem?"
Cool weather today here in the Texas Hill Country and I guess I had better get out and burn some cedar I had cut. Groan, Pile it and set it afire.
Cedar is evil.
Good Lord what a face on that baby! It does look like a wildebeeste. Or a gnu. Frog, are you here this morning?
So sorry to hear you're feeelin' poorly.
Do ya have anyone who can make a run to a GNC type store? If you're interested in giving it a shot, Olive Leaf Extract does WONDERS. We use it for 'everything'. LOL.
No, I haven't seen that tape but it sounds like something I'd like. What's going on in Whitney?
Don't think I'm going to be up at 2 am. Be sure and let me know when you are in Fort Worth. I'll meet you for lunch.
