*New* The FreeRepublic Saddle Club - Who's Who *pics*
Free Republic has a lot of horse people that have found each other on other threads . And since we all like to talk horses, how about a thread where it is not off-topic, but is THE topic?
This is a horse chat thread where we share ideas, ask for input from other horsemen, and talk about our riding and horse-keeping. We have a lot of different kinds of riders and horses, and a lot to share. In the previous threads we have had a great time talking through lessons, training, horse lamenesses, illnesses and pregnancies... and always sharing pictures and stories.
I always have a link to this thread on my profile page, so if you have something to say and can't find the thread in latest posts look for it there and wake the thread up!
I also have a ping list for horse threads that are of interest, and Becky pings everyone most mornings. Let Becky (Paynoattentionmanbehindthecurtain) and/or me know if you would like to be on the ping list. As FreeRepublic is a political site, our politics and other issues will probably blend in . There are many issues for horsemen that touch politics land use, animal rights/abuse cases that make the news . Legislation that might affect horse owners.
So... like the previous threads, this is intended as fun place to come and share stories, pictures, questions and chit-chat, unguided and unmoderated and that we come together here as friends. There are lots of ways of doing things and we all have our quirks, tricks and specialties that are neat to learn about.

New folk and occasional posters, jump right in and introduce yourselves, tell us about your horses, and post pictures if you've got them!
Fun for who? (Like I don't already know the answer to that question!)
Been all over England, Scotland, Wales, Cornwall and then travelled to Belgium, France, Germany, Switzerland, Spain, Italy, Austria, and America!
Favourites abroad have to be America and Austria. In England I love Cornwall and Scotland.
I don't care to much for France or Spain.
I like to read Catherine Coulter as she reminds me in her books of places I know!
Wow! You've done alot of traveling. One of my all time favorite movies is The Sound of Music, mostly for the scenery. Austria looks incredible.
Why don't you like France or Spain? One of my friends went to Paris a loooong time ago and she wasn't impressed, she said it was dirty and run down. She also went to Switzerland and loved it.

During the summer with 100 degree plus temps ours stays warm. We take it down in the winter.
Sorry for the double post. It gave me a "could not be displayed" page, I hit my browser back button and hit post again.
Switzerland is beautiful too, my sister lives there, near Zurich.
France was dirty, the bathrooms are primitive to say the least and even though all of my group could speak French, we were ignored. Oh, and I dont like to eat snails! : )
Spain was sad. The part I was in was called Roses. It was full of tourists that drowned themselves in suntan lotion and hit the sand, well as thats not my cup of tea, I went exploring and found that most of the area, away from tourists eyes, was very very poor and run down. People living in primitive shacks and struggling to earn enough to eat.
You probably guessed, those photos were Scotland. : )
Now you can see why I LOVE the mountains!
Speaking of tourists , we have a problem on the Island. The winter Texans and the college spring breakers not getting along. Neither wants the other at their hotels:')
We are in the north east corner, just south of Tulsa.
Becky
That doesn't sound sound like fun. Does this always happen?
First I've heard of it. Spring break wild and rowdy and everyone knows to stay away. The winter Texans there though and want thinging quiet lol.
They do go through some horrible stages don't they. I don't think I've ever seen an animal that didn't hit a bad stage in their growing.
Good morning everyone! : )
What beautiful pictures to get up to this morning! I'm sick with that flu bug and and went to bed early last night. Just seeing those pictures first thing this morning makes me feel better. That mountain scene with the road running through it is incredible. I wish I owned about 5000 acres of it and lived right in the middle. I would put that thatched roof cottage in the most beautiful spot and stay there and never leave.
The cottage picture looks like a painting.
My second to youngest daughter's best friend moved here from England about a year ago. The little girl has already lost her accent but the mom and dad sound lovely and I hope they never lose it. The wife was born in London, I don't know where the husband was born but he's definitely british. They are the nicest people in the world. Their last name is Burr-Lonnon, is it common to have hyphenated last names?
Janis, I forgot about you down there with those springbreakers. I can imagine the "snowbirds" hate sharing the beach and town with those crazy kids. Do they bother you?
