*New* The FreeRepublic Saddle Club - Who's Who *pics*

Free Republic has a lot of horse people that have found each other on other threads…. And since we all like to talk horses, how about a thread where it is not off-topic, but is THE topic?

This is a horse chat thread where we share ideas, ask for input from other horsemen, and talk about our riding and horse-keeping. We have a lot of different kinds of riders and horses, and a lot to share. In the previous threads we have had a great time talking through lessons, training, horse lamenesses, illnesses and pregnancies... and always sharing pictures and stories.

I always have a link to this thread on my profile page, so if you have something to say and can't find the thread in latest posts… look for it there and wake the thread up!

I also have a ping list for horse threads that are of interest, and Becky pings everyone most mornings. Let Becky (Paynoattentionmanbehindthecurtain) and/or me know if you would like to be on the ping list. As FreeRepublic is a political site, our politics and other issues will probably blend in…. There are many issues for horsemen that touch politics… land use, animal rights/abuse cases that make the news…. Legislation that might affect horse owners.

So... like the previous threads, this is intended as fun place to come and share stories, pictures, questions and chit-chat, unguided and unmoderated and that we come together here as friends. There are lots of ways of doing things and we all have our quirks, tricks and specialties that are neat to learn about.

Previous threads:

The FreeRepublic Saddle Club thread - Thread TWO!
The FreeRepublic Saddle Club thread - Thread THREE!

New folk and occasional posters, jump right in and introduce yourselves, tell us about your horses, and post pictures if you've got them!

"(Cav, see the previous post too for more pictures. I know you remember this spot)"

Hi Frog! Good pictures. Sure I remember this spot and I found a mini-mag flashlight near an old campfire pit there. Think we used to ride across this bridge but not remember for sure. This morning, the lady that bought my bay mare stopped by to show me pics of her new baby colt. It was born this weekend to a paint mare she has. This is the lady that lives not too far away from you. Her computer is being repaired and maybe she will start lurking here soon.

Get this, I was just outside feeding all the critters and it started hailing! Very few clouds and just a little sprinkle every now and then and all of the sudden it starts hailing. Very weird. It's about 55 degrees and no wind.

I have only been in one hail storm and it was the same way outside except warmer. Really spooky.

It hails in Ga in July too, often followed by a tornado.

What is really weird is when it starts raining frogs or fish! That occasionally happens when the funnel of a tornado passes over a pond, sending the unlucky inhabitants on a very brief but exciting trip. I once saw a news report of an alligator being dropped on a street in Charleston, SC.

Hi y'all! I just got home from work. Thanks for posting the pictures of the saddles Hair. I was thinking they resemble the trooper style saddle. The trooper saddles have a suspended seat configuration where you have 2 wooden bars with a bronze pommel and cantel arch with wide nylon webbing run between them under the seat leather like this Tucker with the gel seat...

Those 2 little Honduran saddles look cusher than this. They also have a little bit of the look of the traditional Peruvian Paso tack like this...

The seat is different, but the skirts are similar.

The children are all tucked up in bed, and I am searching online for a wonderful vacation home!
Are we going to take bikes or horses?

can you post a link again? It seems very hard to find a cabin that is secluded without neighbours! I am a private person and like to relax in peace and quiet! Especially if there is a hot tub! : )

It was really spooky. And Jim, I did start looking around for wall clouds but there weren't any. It's a little too chilly to feel like tornado weather but I didn't think it felt like hail weather, either.
