*New* The FreeRepublic Saddle Club - Who's Who *pics*
Free Republic has a lot of horse people that have found each other on other threads . And since we all like to talk horses, how about a thread where it is not off-topic, but is THE topic?
This is a horse chat thread where we share ideas, ask for input from other horsemen, and talk about our riding and horse-keeping. We have a lot of different kinds of riders and horses, and a lot to share. In the previous threads we have had a great time talking through lessons, training, horse lamenesses, illnesses and pregnancies... and always sharing pictures and stories.
I always have a link to this thread on my profile page, so if you have something to say and can't find the thread in latest posts look for it there and wake the thread up!
I also have a ping list for horse threads that are of interest, and Becky pings everyone most mornings. Let Becky (Paynoattentionmanbehindthecurtain) and/or me know if you would like to be on the ping list. As FreeRepublic is a political site, our politics and other issues will probably blend in . There are many issues for horsemen that touch politics land use, animal rights/abuse cases that make the news . Legislation that might affect horse owners.
So... like the previous threads, this is intended as fun place to come and share stories, pictures, questions and chit-chat, unguided and unmoderated and that we come together here as friends. There are lots of ways of doing things and we all have our quirks, tricks and specialties that are neat to learn about.

New folk and occasional posters, jump right in and introduce yourselves, tell us about your horses, and post pictures if you've got them!
Sounds like a good plan to me:')
I am pretty strict and will find it easy to structure the day so that they get their schooling done. Both children are happy to take a couple of weeks off when summer term ends, then dive right into homeschooling. We can then plan vacations without a problem throughout the year. The children are excited. They know they will have to work hard, but they enjoy school work. Emma wants to be a doctor and Jacob wants to be a vet.
I admire you for wanting to homeschool your grandchildren. Ace doesnt seem as expensive as some other homeschools. I hope your DIL agrees. : )
Oh , I wanted to add one more thing. You might want to check out the homeschool legal association. I only had problems one time and handled it myself but schools lose money without kids and if you are ever given any grief they can represent you. It's not expensive and by joining you get an undate every so oftem about stuff. Also, I myself would never let a social worker in my home without calling my lawyer first. I doubt if you will ever have any problems though. Most don't but there are some horror stories out there.
We took vacations too but I homeschooled mine year round. It was a 9 month program but I had extension options. 3 months off was just too long for my son.
Thanks, I appreciate that advice and will certainly check it out. : )
It's good that your children are structured. I normally don't believe in attention disorders but my son was a classic example. It would have been nice if he finished ahead. The truth was, he didn't finish period and was failing and being shuffled thru the system. He was structured at home in a way that he didn't realize it. I emphasized "you will do this and you will do it correctly. You can cry and throw fits but I don't care if it's midnight. School is not finished for the day until you do your work". He was used to just turning in whatever he wanted. He was shocked that he had a do-over momma:')
Not to change the subject, but has anyone seen the movie "A Perfect Murder"? My kids aren't home and I just watched it. Hoo boy, Viggo Mortensen does it for me! I'm going to go buy "A Walk on the Moon" or order it from Amazon. I've seen all the LOTR movies and of course, Hidalgo.
No, I haven't seen it.... is good then eh? ;~D
I haven't seen it. I bought the lotr movies awhile back but haven't watched them. I went to the theater with my husband when they came out but they were just too long for me to sit thru. Here I can pause them and re-watch:')
If you like Viggo, get A Perfect Murder. In LOTR and Hidalgo, they were just action movies that most kids would like. A Perfect Murder and A Walk on the Moon are more of the kind "mom with 5 kids, married for 22 years" exciting fantasy. Know what I mean?
Yeah, lol. I liked Hidalgo though.
I figured you'd get it. Hair hasn't been married long enough, she's still in the honeymoon stage.
I looked up "A Walk on the Moon" on screenit.com and it's rated R for sexual situations and nudity (with, ahem, movement). If my kids weren't on the way home I'd go get it right now!
This is going to be your fault if my husband decides to drop in and see what I'm up to. All these posts about studs....:')
You know, it's funny, I do like some visual stuff in movies but I don't like graphic books, I prefer to use my imagination also. Am I a weirdo, or what?
(I hope Keith doesn't read this, I'll never hear the end of it)
That Viggo is a stud, all right.
The problem with books is that I have to keep them away from Eddie. He leaves me messages at the steamy parts. Going to the stables now. Talk to you later.
"Maybe Keith is actually your husband. HMMMMMMM? U in big trouble lol"
Oh boy, I'm really never gonna hear the end of it now.
That's kinda cool that Eddie leaves you messages in the steamy parts.
LOL - sorry
LOL Guess I havent been married long enough either (nearly 5 years). But does my previous marriage of 14 years to Emmas and Jaocbs Dad get me a look see? : D
