*New* The FreeRepublic Saddle Club - Who's Who *pics*

Free Republic has a lot of horse people that have found each other on other threads…. And since we all like to talk horses, how about a thread where it is not off-topic, but is THE topic?

This is a horse chat thread where we share ideas, ask for input from other horsemen, and talk about our riding and horse-keeping. We have a lot of different kinds of riders and horses, and a lot to share. In the previous threads we have had a great time talking through lessons, training, horse lamenesses, illnesses and pregnancies... and always sharing pictures and stories.

I always have a link to this thread on my profile page, so if you have something to say and can't find the thread in latest posts… look for it there and wake the thread up!

I also have a ping list for horse threads that are of interest, and Becky pings everyone most mornings. Let Becky (Paynoattentionmanbehindthecurtain) and/or me know if you would like to be on the ping list. As FreeRepublic is a political site, our politics and other issues will probably blend in…. There are many issues for horsemen that touch politics… land use, animal rights/abuse cases that make the news…. Legislation that might affect horse owners.

So... like the previous threads, this is intended as fun place to come and share stories, pictures, questions and chit-chat, unguided and unmoderated and that we come together here as friends. There are lots of ways of doing things and we all have our quirks, tricks and specialties that are neat to learn about.

Previous threads:

The FreeRepublic Saddle Club thread - Thread TWO!

New folk and occasional posters, jump right in and introduce yourselves, tell us about your horses, and post pictures if you've got them!

Yeah, that was cool:)

I probably will get to ride, It's still pretty warm, but does look like rain may be coming in. The horses are eating right now, I'll have to give them some time to digest, which gives me time to sit a few minutes:), I've been going since early this morning.

I guess it will be a while till you can ride??? Oh, and your babies look great. They are really growing. I can't wait for May:)

well I dont think it will be that long till I ride. I was given casts that can be taken off so that i can shower easily and go in the hot tub : ).............well I got sick and tired of wearing the one on my foot so I just keep my foot as flat as possible and wear a tennis shoe. (deaconjim has been shaking his head with exasperation).
My arm is a different matter, it is a lot more painful than before they re-broke it. I dont have any strength in it and have to be really careful, but I dont see why I couldnt ride for a little time if I took care. : )

A few weeks ago when I was having trouble with my fence, Mack kept telling me to "just touch it" :). I kept telling him to come out and "just touch it" the next day he bought me a test light:)

we're going to get one, but in the meantime I was around!
Our Australian shepherd Sally let us know it worked. Poor thing, it had started to rain and she was a little damp when she decided to go under the wire : ( you should have heard her yelp.

Congratulations! He's a beautiful foal. Wow, look at all the color. Lightening marks, and white tips on ears. That's the way I like 'em.
Cute little face, he looks he's really going to be a nice one. Good size. Mama is a really good looking mare too.

I wasted time and money at a trap tournament today.. :( Too windy, and not enough practice this winter. Oh well, it was good to be out, even thou it was only in the mid 40's.

Well, Cyn got clipped

And Bay got washed...

And lunged....

And goofed off a bit... Here he is utterly failing to 'woah'

Now he's looking like he might 'woah', but I think it took another time around and some sharper corrections ;~D

Now they are standing tied... Bay still isn't dry....

I made the mistake one time of putting a hot wire down low enough for the dogs to go under, but not high enough for their tails to clear. Nikki hit it with her tail, but of course since she was past it with her eyes, she had no idea what got her. She yelped and took off and ran clear to the neighbors, 1/4 up the road. We had to go get her. She did that twice, I took the wire down. She was just never going to figure what was getting her.

Cyn is really looking good:)

Don't you love it when they want to play on the lunge line. Harley has done that. I thought it was his age, but if Bay does it guess not:)

My dogs are kept in by hotwire in the front where the paddock is... but it starts out a couple inches off the ground and there's wires every 6 inches, so they hit it before they get through it.

When I trained them on it, though, I remember my little Zulu dog spending a few hours afraid to leave the porch after getting hit by it... ;~D

I ran into the girl that I bought Harley from this morning at breakfast.

She's moving. Has sold her place, all her horses. She has a 3 horse slant gooseneck trailer. Almost brand new, not even 500 miles on it. Very nice. I've seen it. She has all her tack, saddle, boots, everything in it. She will sell the whole thing tack, and trailer, won't seperate, for $5000.

You want to buy it and pull it home in June?:)

Here's another one... He's about to get the two handed 'woah'.

He's feeling good... so it makes me feel good to see that even when he doesn't behave. He was all wet and cold, and that always makes him frisky ;~D

OK, just passing the word:). I didn't know if you had considered one for the truck you might get from your dad.

Even with his truck, it's unfortunately too big... we're looking at the lightest possible 2 horse we can find. That trailer will be the ~next~ one we buy, after this one.

OK,,but I could probably get her down to $4500 anyway. She dropped on Harley. You could get it home with your truck since it would be empty:).

I don't mean to push, it is a good deal tho. I've seen the trailer, altho I can't remember what color it is:). I say red, Mack says blue, but it might be tan...LOL.

lol... you should buy it :~D You could re-sell it and make money probably... or decide to keep it, like you do the other good deals you get from her. :~D

I just got a call from my neighbor Beth, who keeps me informed about the POA lady. Remember I told you all the POA lady got a round pen. Well, someone stole it Fri. Just pulled up with a truck and trailer from the looks of the tire tracks. They had it set up inside a fenced area, but I guess the gates weren't locked. They live on the main road that runs thru this additon. Pretty busy road.

I just can't believe someone would do that. It would have to take awhile to take one of those down and load it up. I know, I've moved panels around alot of times. It's not fun and it's hard work.
