Free Republic has a lot of horse people that have found each other on other threads…. And since we all like to talk horses, how about a thread where it is not off-topic, but is THE topic?
This is a horse chat thread where we share ideas, ask for input from other horsemen, and talk about our riding and horse-keeping. We have a lot of different kinds of riders and horses, and a lot to share. In the previous threads we have had a great time talking through lessons, training, horse lamenesses, illnesses and pregnancies... and always sharing pictures and stories.
I always have a link to this thread on my profile page, so if you have something to say and can't find the thread in latest posts… look for it there and wake the thread up!
I also have a ping list for horse threads that are of interest, and Becky pings everyone most mornings. Let Becky (Paynoattentionmanbehindthecurtain) and/or me know if you would like to be on the ping list. As FreeRepublic is a political site, our politics and other issues will probably blend in…. There are many issues for horsemen that touch politics… land use, animal rights/abuse cases that make the news…. Legislation that might affect horse owners.
So... like the previous threads, this is intended as fun place to come and share stories, pictures, questions and chit-chat, unguided and unmoderated and that we come together here as friends. There are lots of ways of doing things and we all have our quirks, tricks and specialties that are neat to learn about.

If it's a scam, it's the most despicable one I've ever seen.
Oh, go suck an egg, Keith. I didn't say I was going to contribute, I was just wondering if anyone else got the email or if they thought it was legit.
MAJOR despicable. I'll look it up on snopes, maybe they have info on it.
Rusty is saddled. I'm changing out a bit on a headstall...something I hate doing, I always get it backwards the first time.
Not real thrilled with this bit I'm going to try, but I like switching out, and I don't have a lot to choose from. This bit has been hanging in my trailer for years, I've forgotten the history of it. But at one time it was a sliding gag bit, but for some reason I can't remember we welding the part that goes in the horses mouth so it doesn't slide now. The part that goes in the mouth is a smooth chain, the shanks are medium long.
I guess it's worth a try, something to get his attention on what he will be doing. I'm just doing arena work today. He did good last time, but he's getting a tiny bit unresponsive to the bit I was useing, needs a wake up call. Could just be from all the time off he's had.
I'm not heavy handed so this really shouldn't make a difference in severity, just a feels different thing.

It may be legit. I can't find any websites saying that it's not but I found plenty saying it's real. How did I get on their email list, I wonder?

Hi Tuffy, I can see why you are moved by the e-mail. I am too. This is what it is designed to do. I truly believe it is a scam. I am sure there must be a way to contribute to this family in need through legitimate channels that is not connected to the e-mail system. If I were you I would search these.
It may be also, that the details in the e-mail are incorrect.
I hate e-mails like this, they leave you wondering if they are true or not, and whether you could help or not.
Often the e-mails themselves come in the form of an attachment and contain a virus.
Be careful, and ignore Kieth. : )

If I have a favorite headstall, I put two of those buckles on it so I can easily change bits. Nearly all of my reins have buckles.

You should see me when I cant get something working right! The air is full of a differnt language! LOL
I am going to go get some housework done now. My foot is doing great which is wonderful, but i keep trying to do too much with my arm and then all hell breaks lose!
