Free Republic has a lot of horse people that have found each other on other threads…. And since we all like to talk horses, how about a thread where it is not off-topic, but is THE topic?
This is a horse chat thread where we share ideas, ask for input from other horsemen, and talk about our riding and horse-keeping. We have a lot of different kinds of riders and horses, and a lot to share. In the previous threads we have had a great time talking through lessons, training, horse lamenesses, illnesses and pregnancies... and always sharing pictures and stories.
I always have a link to this thread on my profile page, so if you have something to say and can't find the thread in latest posts… look for it there and wake the thread up!
I also have a ping list for horse threads that are of interest, and Becky pings everyone most mornings. Let Becky (Paynoattentionmanbehindthecurtain) and/or me know if you would like to be on the ping list. As FreeRepublic is a political site, our politics and other issues will probably blend in…. There are many issues for horsemen that touch politics… land use, animal rights/abuse cases that make the news…. Legislation that might affect horse owners.
So... like the previous threads, this is intended as fun place to come and share stories, pictures, questions and chit-chat, unguided and unmoderated and that we come together here as friends. There are lots of ways of doing things and we all have our quirks, tricks and specialties that are neat to learn about.

Busted. Yep, there's somebody taking care of the place while I'm gone. One of my neighbors has a son in his early 20's that takes care of the place. I pay him $50 a week. He's a minimum wage employee with the city and this is a good supplement to his income. Also, his dad is a good hand with horses, so if anything goes wrong he can get his dad to help him out.
That's purdy much the long and the short of it.
See... He hasn't mentioned any 'she' type people yet. ;~D
That's cuz there ain't no 'she' types. I got divorced about a year ago after about a 2 year separation and I've been on the road a lot since then. But it's worked out good in that it's given me time to clean out the barn, if you know what I mean.

Kind of slow here today...why is that:)? It's raining and I have nothing to do (whining).
I did just get back from a trip to town. I went to that evil Wal-Mart STore:). I saw this weekend that they had the shrubs out I wanted. I know it's a bit early, but I'm ready to start planting. I also got some morning glory, and moonflower vine seeds, and some hummingbird feed.
Now if it would just warm up....or if I could just find our shovel:)

What sort of jaw bone do you suppose this is? Horse or cow? We found it in the back forty. No other bones near it.... that we've found yet anyway.
I'd say it looks like a horse... small one... but I've never inspected a cow skull either so they may have the same tootless area in the middle of the mouth.

UUUMMMM fire:), I had a big pile of feed bags burning a few minutes ago:)

I had my son look at your picture of the jaw bone. He says it's a horse. Cows don't have that tootless space:)

Thanks.... rather curious to have a horse bone back there. hmmm... I may have to go pick it up and look at it again. Might be able to tell how old it was by looking at some tooth diagrams.
I went for a little ride, bareback while ecurbh tended fire... he took a few pics I'll sort through and post ;~D.

Oh! It was great! He forgot the picnic so I clouted him over the head for that, but he made up for it when i got to watch him wash out the trash cans. So much excitement in one day..I had to come home and rest! : D
I cant get it working either, I had problems earlier. Guess we will have to wait. I hope we dont miss the event!
