*New* The FreeRepublic Saddle Club - Who's Who *pics*

Free Republic has a lot of horse people that have found each other on other threads…. And since we all like to talk horses, how about a thread where it is not off-topic, but is THE topic?

This is a horse chat thread where we share ideas, ask for input from other horsemen, and talk about our riding and horse-keeping. We have a lot of different kinds of riders and horses, and a lot to share. In the previous threads we have had a great time talking through lessons, training, horse lamenesses, illnesses and pregnancies... and always sharing pictures and stories.

I always have a link to this thread on my profile page, so if you have something to say and can't find the thread in latest posts… look for it there and wake the thread up!

I also have a ping list for horse threads that are of interest, and Becky pings everyone most mornings. Let Becky (Paynoattentionmanbehindthecurtain) and/or me know if you would like to be on the ping list. As FreeRepublic is a political site, our politics and other issues will probably blend in…. There are many issues for horsemen that touch politics… land use, animal rights/abuse cases that make the news…. Legislation that might affect horse owners.

So... like the previous threads, this is intended as fun place to come and share stories, pictures, questions and chit-chat, unguided and unmoderated and that we come together here as friends. There are lots of ways of doing things and we all have our quirks, tricks and specialties that are neat to learn about.

New folk and occasional posters, jump right in and introduce yourselves, tell us about your horses, and post pictures if you've got them!

No, you don't sound awful, you sound normal.

I am now on the foal watch. My neighbor has 2 miniature donkeys and one is pregnant and due any day. They went to Vegas and asked if I would keep an eye out. I sure hope she doesn't foal on my watch, I don't know nuttin' bout birthin' babies.

Anyone catch Animal Cops/Houston last night?
At this ranch in Texas they rescued over 30 horses, ponies and mini horses. Some very good looking ponies in that group.

No - I didn't see that one.... we watched a bit of AP yesterday, those shows are always so sad. Seems a large percentage of Houston's case's are horses.

Miniature horse and donkey babies are the cutest things but they have a high stillborn rate, something I didn't find out until I had a mini mare that had a stillborn baby. What I found out is that they have been bred down to be so small that they have trouble with pregnancy and birth.

I will get pictures if it's born alive.

Deconjim has just told me that as I have broken bones, i dont need to load/unload the truck this time!
Seriously though, I dont care where we go, its just nice to have time alone with him : )
We have been browsing land and farms all over the country big time. I got a card from him that read, "you are old enough now for your dreams to become reality, lets begin" so we are searching for that perfect place.
I got the info about homeschooling, and am starting next year. I was very impressed.

Hopefully everything will come out ok.

Are ya'll keeping up with the story about the pregnant mom and little boy murdered by the mom's ex-boyfriend? They found the bodies a couple of miles from me. The road that the murderer dumped the car into the creek is a road I use daily.

Heh . . . talk about leading with your chin! Does that guy think the TW will throw his feet out farther if he "encourages" him by jutting his jaw out like that? He looks like the Tomb Keeper . . .
