*New* The FreeRepublic Saddle Club - Who's Who *pics*
Free Republic has a lot of horse people that have found each other on other threads . And since we all like to talk horses, how about a thread where it is not off-topic, but is THE topic?
This is a horse chat thread where we share ideas, ask for input from other horsemen, and talk about our riding and horse-keeping. We have a lot of different kinds of riders and horses, and a lot to share. In the previous threads we have had a great time talking through lessons, training, horse lamenesses, illnesses and pregnancies... and always sharing pictures and stories.
I always have a link to this thread on my profile page, so if you have something to say and can't find the thread in latest posts look for it there and wake the thread up!
I also have a ping list for horse threads that are of interest, and Becky pings everyone most mornings. Let Becky (Paynoattentionmanbehindthecurtain) and/or me know if you would like to be on the ping list. As FreeRepublic is a political site, our politics and other issues will probably blend in . There are many issues for horsemen that touch politics land use, animal rights/abuse cases that make the news . Legislation that might affect horse owners.
So... like the previous threads, this is intended as fun place to come and share stories, pictures, questions and chit-chat, unguided and unmoderated and that we come together here as friends. There are lots of ways of doing things and we all have our quirks, tricks and specialties that are neat to learn about.

New folk and occasional posters, jump right in and introduce yourselves, tell us about your horses, and post pictures if you've got them!
Yep, yep, I can see that, or maybe "Pony-dressage".
The one after that looks like "Pony-barrel-racer".
You've posted the one where she does "Pony-jumping-horse", so if you could just get on of her in harness, she could do "Pony-Clydesdale". She'd make a sharp little harness horse, hooked to a little 2-wheel cart.
Heh.... yeah - if I dared set foot in a cart that was strapped to that pony!
Nope, don't think I've ever heard of him.
Maybe my parents were trying to discourage me from getting a horse. ;')
I thought she might have died also but ecurbh looked it up and she's still living....
Thank you! Then it was Eva that died....Green Acres (my favorite trail riding song)
In 2002, she was reported to be in a coma in a Los Angeles hospital after a horrifying car accident. The 85-year-old Hungarian-born star was injured when the car she was traveling in hit a light pole in West Hollywood, California. She is now reported to be living in a luxury suite in the Motion Picture and Television Hospital in California's Woodland Hills. It is not clear, however, if she is still in the coma.
The guy who broke Blade for me broke him to a wagon first. He hitches them up next to an experienced harness horse, one who's accustomed to the fits pitched by newbies, and they've not got much choice but to go with it. Having the other horse there keeps them calmer too. The wagon is pretty big and heavy and has hydraulic brakes, so they're really not going anywhere if he doesn't want them to. My riding buddy, the one in most of my pictures, has broken all but one of his riding horses to a wagon. He even modified his hitch to do handle 3 abreast. I'd like to see it sometime because they're all 3 black TWH of similar size and I'll bet they look sharp. He lives way out in the country and has lots of dirt roads around to drive them on too, so that's another plus.
Here's a little history for you all. Not too far from here, is a big big arsenal, used during the war. This area was picked, because of all the cloud cover we get. It's pretty much defunct now. They do let hunters who win a lottery type thing in, to hunt the many deer. I always thougth it would be a great place to ride.
That would be cool... to have a cart and a place where you could drive around in it! Not sure where I'd go around here. My street is too busy.
I have experience driving, but it was when I was showing my stallion, it was my trainer's cart, and the 'stallions driving' class at Arab shows was always a little scary! I felt like everyone was only barely under control. I know I was! That's why they'd have 'headers' to come stand and hold the horse when we stopped.
It'd be a good day to ride when the hunters weren't there also!
Arabs/Under control...Now isn't that an oxymoron? ;o)
The stallions class in particular. ;~D
Just checking in one last time before bed to see if you have a baby?
Becky
No baby yet, although camera is working, just small picture.
Good morning!
Loved those photos Hairofthedog! Beautiful one of you and your horse close up, also of the pony running full pelt!
James brother came and got his parents last night. We (well James) still have to pack up most of their stuff, but he brought the ambulance and took their car. Today is my birthday so it is so nice to be myself today! (Dont I sound awful wanting that.) I am 37, its a sunny warm day and I hope that Duchess' mare has her foal today! : )
The kids all sang "happy birthday" at the breakfast table. What could be more perfect? : D
Please could you post the link again? : )
Have a wonderful day and take care of yourself.
