*New* The FreeRepublic Saddle Club - Who's Who *pics*
Free Republic has a lot of horse people that have found each other on other threads . And since we all like to talk horses, how about a thread where it is not off-topic, but is THE topic?
This is a horse chat thread where we share ideas, ask for input from other horsemen, and talk about our riding and horse-keeping. We have a lot of different kinds of riders and horses, and a lot to share. In the previous threads we have had a great time talking through lessons, training, horse lamenesses, illnesses and pregnancies... and always sharing pictures and stories.
I always have a link to this thread on my profile page, so if you have something to say and can't find the thread in latest posts look for it there and wake the thread up!
I also have a ping list for horse threads that are of interest, and Becky pings everyone most mornings. Let Becky (Paynoattentionmanbehindthecurtain) and/or me know if you would like to be on the ping list. As FreeRepublic is a political site, our politics and other issues will probably blend in . There are many issues for horsemen that touch politics land use, animal rights/abuse cases that make the news . Legislation that might affect horse owners.
So... like the previous threads, this is intended as fun place to come and share stories, pictures, questions and chit-chat, unguided and unmoderated and that we come together here as friends. There are lots of ways of doing things and we all have our quirks, tricks and specialties that are neat to learn about.

New folk and occasional posters, jump right in and introduce yourselves, tell us about your horses, and post pictures if you've got them!
Hey you old fart, I'm not worried about the weather I'm just sick of all the mud. Shut your pie hole.(o:
Oooooo, now there's a yummy visual, Tom Selleck as Rhett Butler. He would be great. That's his kind of role.
Some of those folks DO carry on a bit. Not all of us are quite that.....rabid.
I aways figured she would. She always got everything else she wanted, eventually. Even if it turned out that it's not what she really wanted after all, like with Ashley. He was such wimpy little thing.
Ummm, lasagna sounds great. Yum. (o:
It's ironic that most of my good online friends are in the South.... y'all are good people.
I had a few bad experiences at work a few years back, and I had actually come to cringe at Texans for awhile, which really wasn't fair, it was just a group of particular jerks from a big state. ;~D
Great movie. Got the DVD.
"Robert, your names Robert, right? Well Robert, you just don't know how little I care."
Reconstruction was a very unkind period for the Southerner.
When I was a pup, my pop would point out certain buildings and farms and talk about how the carpetbaggers had swept into town after the war and 'stolen' as much property as they could get their hands on.
LOL!! I loved that line too!
I don't deny there is bad blood.... But I don't think any of mine were involved... They were just quiet shy Norwegians tryin' to scratch a living in Minnesota.
Now thats an ironic statement, since the South was indeed a 'foreign' country for about 5 years.
Well, I was just re-thinking my own timeline... My ancestry wasn't even here.... They were still in Norway. :~D
Liberalism goes back a long way. And much like the liberal yankees rewrite history today to suit their socialist agenda, they also rewrote the history of the South, The War for Southern Independence and the post war reconstruction period.
There's a fairly significant population of todays Southerners that are tired of being the whipping boys for the yankee liberals and tired of having our children being taught yankee lies in the liberal public schools.
The above link is an example of just one of many such movements springing up in the Southland.
There was another one he did where he played the friend of a guy who had gotten Shanghaied and killed and he had promised the guy's wife that he would find her and take care of her. She had a big cattle ranch and this shady lawyer was trying to get her to marry him so he could get control of her land because it had oil on it and she didn't know it. You remember that one? Or have I confused it with another character.
North and South, Beulah Land, The Blue and The Gray, All good books and movies. I am a junkie for them too.
My Mother took me to see GWIW as a child. She just loved Clark Gable. She had an original program when the movie was released. I have it now and always wondered, what it would be worth.
Southerners are great people...coming from this Yankee..:)
That is so fascinating. My family has only been here two generations, so we end at Ellis Island.
Thank you for the link. Sad that history is always written by the winners. A lot of information is lost or misconstrued.
:) Mine too, came to America in the early 1900's. My husband's family came over in 1620, beat the pilgrims :)
