*New* The FreeRepublic Saddle Club - Who's Who *pics*

Free Republic has a lot of horse people that have found each other on other threads…. And since we all like to talk horses, how about a thread where it is not off-topic, but is THE topic?

This is a horse chat thread where we share ideas, ask for input from other horsemen, and talk about our riding and horse-keeping. We have a lot of different kinds of riders and horses, and a lot to share. In the previous threads we have had a great time talking through lessons, training, horse lamenesses, illnesses and pregnancies... and always sharing pictures and stories.

I always have a link to this thread on my profile page, so if you have something to say and can't find the thread in latest posts… look for it there and wake the thread up!

I also have a ping list for horse threads that are of interest, and Becky pings everyone most mornings. Let Becky (Paynoattentionmanbehindthecurtain) and/or me know if you would like to be on the ping list. As FreeRepublic is a political site, our politics and other issues will probably blend in…. There are many issues for horsemen that touch politics… land use, animal rights/abuse cases that make the news…. Legislation that might affect horse owners.

So... like the previous threads, this is intended as fun place to come and share stories, pictures, questions and chit-chat, unguided and unmoderated and that we come together here as friends. There are lots of ways of doing things and we all have our quirks, tricks and specialties that are neat to learn about.

I know what you mean. I didn't realize how big my closet was until I got a box to put all my shoes in.

I got to clean house tommorow befor I go to work. Travis has a buddy from work coming over on Wed, so I want us to look good. I've never met this one. Travis said he doesn't think he has any friends, so he told him to come to our house. We always get the rejects.Oh well.(o:

Okay, nothing is connected right now - Eric is going to connect to my computer tomorrow while I'm at work and endeavor to get things set up. Will update as I know anything.

I wish him luck, and thanks for trying all this stuff for our benefit... If you want to bag it as too much trouble, feel free.

Sorry we've been away from the computer awhile, but we've had a lot going on. I'll give you a quick update.

RoS fell several weeks ago and hurt her arm, but refused to see a doctor. Last night, she tripped over a cat and kicked a column on the back porch. By this morning, her foot hurt bad enough that she had to go to the dr.

I've just put her to bed. She has a broken toe, a broken foot (just above the broken toe), and a broken arm. The arm had started to heal, and had to be rebroken. Needless to say, she's had a bad week. (Did I mention that she had a kidney stone Sunday night?)

Please keep her in your prayers.

Thank you, I'll let her know. Hopefully, I will be able to get her to stay off her feet some tomorrow and she can get on here herself.

I know she will appreciate your thoughts and prayers.

Good grief! Tell Sharn we are thinking about her and praying for a quick recovery!

I've had 2 kidney stones, the first one when I was 16. Bad stuff and something I wouldn't wish on my worst enemy.

That cat of yours is lethal! - She tripped over the cat the night the foal was born too!

Rest, and get well soon Sharn.

I just checked out our 7 day forecast:( It's saying we won't see the sun at all for "7" days. I don't know if I can do that.

Every Racker, Walker, Pasos or any of the gaited horses I have seen, all the riders held snug reins.

They do better with light contact on a curb bit. It keeps them collected and off the forehand so much when they're gaiting, but when they're walking, I let mine have all the slack they want.

You should see our forecast. Nothing but sun.... bitter cold though... it's only in the thirties at night, but it stays pretty chilly in day time too.

Man, we had a storm last night too. It hailed enough that it looked like snow. I was at the barn trying to feed the horses and I thought they were gonna run over me before I could let them out of the barn. It's a metal barn and it was really loud in there. They'd rather stand out in a hail storm than in there. I felt bad for them and was glad the hail was just pea-sized, but they got some golf-ball-sized ones in town. I'd hate to think about my horses standing out in that. It would really hurt.
