*New* The FreeRepublic Saddle Club - Who's Who *pics*

Free Republic has a lot of horse people that have found each other on other threads…. And since we all like to talk horses, how about a thread where it is not off-topic, but is THE topic?

This is a horse chat thread where we share ideas, ask for input from other horsemen, and talk about our riding and horse-keeping. We have a lot of different kinds of riders and horses, and a lot to share. In the previous threads we have had a great time talking through lessons, training, horse lamenesses, illnesses and pregnancies... and always sharing pictures and stories.

I always have a link to this thread on my profile page, so if you have something to say and can't find the thread in latest posts… look for it there and wake the thread up!

I also have a ping list for horse threads that are of interest, and Becky pings everyone most mornings. Let Becky (Paynoattentionmanbehindthecurtain) and/or me know if you would like to be on the ping list. As FreeRepublic is a political site, our politics and other issues will probably blend in…. There are many issues for horsemen that touch politics… land use, animal rights/abuse cases that make the news…. Legislation that might affect horse owners.

So... like the previous threads, this is intended as fun place to come and share stories, pictures, questions and chit-chat, unguided and unmoderated and that we come together here as friends. There are lots of ways of doing things and we all have our quirks, tricks and specialties that are neat to learn about.

Enjoy:)

It's still gray, and cold here. Looks like Thrus. is our best chance for a decent day, and then it turns bad again.

I'm ready for some 70 degree weather myself. The best we've done around here is middle 60's. It was pretty foggy this morning on the way to work. I think it's supposed to rain thru tomorrow then start clearing up for a nice weekend. I'm ready for it too. I need to get some more riding in.

Y'all were talking about good books the other day and I've got one for ya if you like historical fiction/romance. Outlander, by Dianna Gabaldon, is about a modern day (1945) woman who accidently steps through a time portal at one of the Celtic stone circles and finds herself back in 1740's Scotland. It's 600 pages, but I couldn't put it down. It gets 4 1/2 stars out of 5 on Amazon, and there's 4 other books in the series if you enjoyed the first. The 5th just fixing to come out so I'm going to have to have it too.

Good morning all!

Well, I thought I'd have a lot of catching up to do, since I wasn't here yesterday, but it looks like everyone took most of the day off - quiet in here!

It froze last night here.... first time since around Christmas. Supposed to be clear but cold all week.

Well... You got me hooked on that Koontz book _Watchers_ I got it last night - I couldn't stay up to read , though... so I guess I won't get much done this afternoon :)

I love being "lost" in a good book! Thanks for the recommendation.... I already love the dog - into the 2nd chapter.....Maybe I'll practice the Pirelli thing and go sit with the colt in the paddock and read .....

I just went and looked for my copy, to see what you have read. Couldn't find it and remembered, that was the book Grizzly cut his teeth on:)

I'll have to get another.

For the most part I'm not a Koontz fan, except for Watchers, and Lightening. I haven't read any of his lastes works. Back when I first reat Watchers, I read about 4 others of his. They really got weird and perverted. I don't care for that stuff, so I haven't tried anymore.

I've got just about all Koont's books, but I haven't read that one. I think I have it somewhere in a hardback, combined with 2 other books. I'll have to get it out and give it a read. Thanks for the req.

My copy of Watchers was a 3 in one hard copy too. But of course the one book that got all tore up when Grizzly pulled it off the shelf was Watchers:(

The last one I read was "The Bad Place". I finished it...but it was difficult.

Have you read Lightening?
