***An Amazingly Poor Commercial: "The Villages"***
Stardate: 0501.26
Posted on 01/26/2005 5:42:34 AM PST by The Wizard
So, I just want to share how NOT to do something with you all
In Central Florida a group is advertising a place called "The Villages" as a great place to live.....BUT
They don't tell you where it is, and when you call the number, even THEY don't know where it is.....
Now imagine all the money these fools paid to the ad agency to develop the ad and campaign, the money they paid to the stations to run the ad, and the phone company to answer the calls, and yet nowhere is the location of the "Villages" known.....
I don't know about anyone else, but when I find information hard to get there usually is a reason......the town the "Villages" is located near must be a dump......

I guess my point is, they should tell where it's located, as it probably is a lovely place, and would enhance the sales....

I got one for you. There have been three armed robberies in my middle-class neighborhood in Anne Arundel County. The perp jumps out of the bushes and robs the homeowner as he leaves for work. The HOA sends out a letter telling us to report suspicious people but they fail to give us any description of the robber! I left them a very curt but angry voicemail last night.

I told you, they're across the street, I see them everyday, but the location should be in the spot....

So it's a crappy ad, I agree.
But you also said and when you call the number, even THEY don't know where it is.....
Took me less than 2 minutes to find information about the Villages and post it here.
To: new cruelty
lol.
Now email them and show them your map. lol.

Do you know if you have to buy one of their houses, or can you build your own? I ask because I'm giving serious thought to having a home built by "The General" (General Steel Contractors). Either that or buying Roses from 1-800-flowers... or maybe getting a nice juicy steak from Ruth's Chris and mentioning that Sean Hannity sent me (that should get me a prime table, with a name drop like that).
Although The General usually recommends it's structures for businesses or churches (did I mention that I could get a free vase for those roses by clicking on the microphone icon on the 1-800-flowers website and telling them Laura Ingram sent me? I wonder, should I have the vase sent with the flowers, or maybe have it sent back to me? I'll have to ask.), I don't see any reason why they can't build a home for me. Lots of Churches have kitchens (although it's usually Protestant churches that I've seen them in, Catholics have them in the Rectory. I'm Catholic myself.) so maybe just running gas plumbing and electric lines would be enough. Although maybe they only build the exterior. I'll have to find out.
But since they go up in 1/3rd the time, or so I've been led to believe, and I have the choice of brickface or stucco (I'm definietly a stucco guy myself. Especially in Florida), I'm thinking the structure from "The General" might be the way to go. Owl_Eagle

now I know why...this is an undeveloped area past 75 and off the normal path......it becomes clear when you see the map....
(My comment that they're accross the street was not literal, but suggestive of their closness to where we are today)
It's between towns, and services...

No, Petronski is right, this is a particularly useless vanity.
Even for you, whiz.

Sales 101 says that if you give too much info in the ad, the prospect has no reason to call. If there is no call, there is no prospect. This ad is likely aimed at collecting contact data from potential prospects for follow up by salespeople.
