I also figure if he passes on, at least he'll go in a nice home and not a small cup on the shelf. He didn't cost me that much money.
But at least next time, I'll know what to look for in a betta. And I'll make sure I get a dark color.
OK. I know, my fish die and I buy some more. It happens.

Plus, he may start eating again.
When I set up the aquarium, I used the water conditioner that came with it. It said it was safe for all fish. But I have some water sitting in jugs getting up to room temperature now. I'm going to get some betta water conditioner tomorrow at the pet store and change his water. Just in case.

That's good, Tulip. Maybe he just needs some time to get adjusted – but this is my question... if they are “happy” swimming in a cup, why can't he be happy now?
I don't know. Animals, and humans, both have their unique qualities. You never know how they will react to different situations.
